Habit Streak Plan

Amimetic
✓ Join over one hundred thousand users to achieve your goals with Habit Streak Plan.

✓ Habit Streak Plan helps you achieve your goals (or New Year's Resolutions) in exercise, diet or other areas of your life. Each day you report on whether you succeeded yesterday, building up streaks of habits and ingraining the activities into your life. It is perfect for the start of the new year.

"After a few days you'll have a chain. Just keep at it and the chain will grow longer every day. You'll like seeing that chain, especially when you get a few weeks under your belt. Your only job next is to not break the chain" (Jerry Seinfeld)

Habit Streak has two key advances on Jerry Seinfeld's original technique. Firstly it allows you to build several chains up at once. Secondly it (optionally) prompts you every day to report on your success (whereas one could easily forget to update or look at a physical calendar).

✓ Habit Streak is simple, clear, easy to use and free; there are no time limits (though there is a Pro version with additional features and functionality).

"Fantastic. Easy to use, and I'm finding it effective for taking on multiple new habits."

Chriswaterguy

"This simple app has altered the course of my life. Thank you!"

Frank

"Love this application. It has helped me create many new habits. The sister application Task Life is great as well."

Diane

✓ If you want To Do list-like functionality see my other app "ToDo Log" which allows for real time recording, repeated and one-off events along with graphs of your past performance. For less than daily tasks check out "Task:Life", for a different approach, based around the idea of what proportion of days you do something.

Access the help page via the ? button and tap the top right day counter to get a tip for each day to introduce you to Habit Streak.

Habit Streak Pro

Amimetic
✓ Join thousands of users to achieve your goals with Habit Streak Pro (the premium version of Habit Streak).

✓ Habit Streak helps you achieve your goals (or New Year's Resolutions) in exercise, diet or other areas of your life. Each day you report on whether you succeeded yesterday, building up streaks of habits and ingraining the activities into your life.

✓ New in Pro version.

The Pro version has rebuilt several elements of the application from the ground up to enable new features.

It includes import (from either Habit Streak or Habit Streak Pro).

It features improved layouts (and a reduced install size).

The correction mode is now much more powerful, giving you a fine level of control over habits (particularly useful if you are moving from another habit tracking system and want to import your progress so far).

The habit view features a new past streak graph (once you enough past streaks for this to be useful, if you have a small number of recorded streaks then the graph does not appear).

There are two widgets. One shows you if you are up to date (and if so your streak count and total), if not it prompts you to update (telling you when you last updated for). The other shows your best and worst streaks. Tap on either to open the App.

Add to calendar: now (on supported devices) you can add reminders to your calendar both for individual habits and reminders to update Habit Streak. To add individual reminders hold down on a habit.

NB Nothing is added to your calendar unless you specifically request it. You must have a default calendar set up on your device for this to work (you need an Android 4.0 or newer device).

✓ Reviews from the free version:

Write: Tablet Notepad/Journal

Amimetic
Write is a minimalist text editor for Android Tablets. You can use it to take notes, to write journal entries or for other text editing tasks.

Write offers both a minimalist writing interface that allows you to focus on what you are currently writing and a proper Android 4.0+ style interface for managing your notes/journal entries.

It has the features which should be in an Android text editor: clean interface, word count, proper Android appearance and searching your notes.

It is one of CNET's "Best Android notepad apps for students".

Write features...

✔ Fullscreen mode

When you want to focus you can hide the action bar and go to the fullscreen mode. In this mode you will see just your writing (and the onscreen keyboard if you are using it). There is an additional fullscreen view mode, where you can read text with editing disabled.

✔ Automatic Saving

Notes save when you go back to the main screen, when you switch to another App or go to the Home Screen.

✔ Word and Character count

So you can keep track of how much you've written. View statistics via the menu.

✔ Quickly create new versions of notes

You can create a copy of a note at the tap of a button. And delete notes (after confirmation) quickly.

You can export notes in HTML format to your external storage/SD card (ideal if you want to edit them in Word/Pages/OpenOffice Writer).

✔ Easy note/journal entry management

Notes are ordered by standard last-edited-first order and with a tap of your left thumb you can filter by date. In the latest version you can also order by creation date (Journal style). You can also do a text search to locate particular notes/entries.

✔ (Bluetooth) Keyboards

Keyboards work really well with Write. With a physical keyboard the fullscreen mode really is fullscreen (or as close as Android allows). Keyboard shortcuts for common actions.

✔ Onscreen keyboard

Auto-correct is enabled (with a physical keyboard it is disabled) for more accurate writing.

✔ Share/Send

Using Android's share feature Write is ideal for the preparation of blog entries, emails or other text. Just tap on share to send it to many applications:

Works really well with...
Box
Gmail
Email
Blogger
Dropbox
Evernote
SpringPad
Google+
Google Reader

Works with...
Wordpress
Google Drive

But should work in similar applications too. It uses a standard Android sharing 'Intent'.

Dropbox

If you are a Dropbox user checkout Write Notebook as this offers full background sync, support for phones and a new interface.

Tablet Browser for Wikipedia

Amimetic
A proper Honeycomb/Ice Cream Sandwich/Jelly Bean Tablet optimised browser for the Wikipedia website.

This allows you to instantly search (from the search box at the top) the Wikipedia site, browse it and to bookmark pages from it.

You can share via the share button, help via the question mark, tap the icon to get back to the Main Page. You can also open any page in your web browser by tapping the picture button.

Success Log: Goal Tracker

Amimetic
Track your successes and improve your life with Success Log.

In Success Log you record your successes in exercise, in work, in dieting or any other aspect of life.

✓ It's fast: you open up the app, select from the list you have previously created and that's it; the app closes allowing you to continue with whatever it is you're doing.

✓ It saves the day and time of your success. And if you want to, you can also record a note, building up a log of your experiences.

✓ Later you can use the app to analyse the days and times where you were most successful. Using a "heatmap", histograms and tables you can determine when you are most (or least) productive and take action to improve things.

"Love the app. Use it all the time to track things and it gets me motivated to do certain tasks more! Love you can see pattern for each individual task"

Julya

"Love it, simple.and to the point."

Crystal

"Awesome :) almost exactly what I was looking for."

Task:Life Performance Tracker

Amimetic
Establish exercise routines, diets, new year resolutions and other positive activities with Task:Life.

★ Using Task:Life you set goals such as going to the gym twice a week or not eating cake five days a week, then track your progress over time.

★ You record each day if you succeeded yesterday (and are thus encouraged to do the task today, particularly if you didn't manage it yesterday). This is an effective method of ingraining regular activities into your life.

★ Task:Life encourages you to exceed your own expectations by tracking the percentage of days you succeed and comparing this with your target. You can view a graphs of your history (and see how your performance has improved over time).

★ You can choose from several ways to view performance including an overall view, a (custom) windowed view or weekly approach.

For the price of a coffee you could dramatically improve your life.

"Top App. Best way to set/review custom daily goals."

George

"Fantastic, much more motivating than reminders! An indispensable app, I'd say :)"

hubertgk

"This simple app is turning my life around. I actually follow through with my habits now. The concept of percentages is great!"

To Do Log

Amimetic
To Do Log was featured (globally) by Android Market in September/October 2011 and was top featured productivity App.

✔ To Do Log

To Do log is a to-do list and "not to-do list" in one. You assign points (either negative or positive) to tasks; then work to get the highest score over time by both doing things you want to do and avoiding those you shouldn't do. You can use it both for things you want to do and those you don't (so it is idea for new year resolutions, health or diet plans etc).

✔ Quick and flexible recording

You can easily add new repeating or one off items, mark them as done and record past occurrences of items. You can also add notes with additional information (and edit them later).

✔ Graphs for analysis

Later you can view graphs showing when you get stuff done, when you are most likely to get distracted or do negative things. By learning this you can take action to better achieve your goals.

You can export and import your data to and from external storage/sd card

✔ More to come

I have various tweaks/improvements planned (but please get in touch if you have suggestions), the current plan is:

v8.0 better history browsing/browse by (windowed) date/better stats
v9.0 ...

though I am going to wait to see what Google announces at end of June (Google IO 2012) before making major changes.

✔ What users think of the App:

"Great app. App works and looks great. I really like the point system and it allowed me to better hold myself responsible for my habits."

Maurene

"Highly recommended... This is my favorite self-improvement app. It allows to you to track behaviors in real time and see rapid improvement. Simply brilliant."

micro Journal

Amimetic
microJournal is a minimalist notepad/journal where entries are restricted to only 100 characters.

★ Everything is private by default (though can be later shared).

★ Capture thoughts and ideas as you constrain yourself to very short "micro" entries.

★ Want an idea for something to write about? Hit the prompt button ("!") and get a short suggestion.

If you want a fully featured note App, with online sync and so on, I personally recommend Evernote. However, if you want a simple, easy to use App which forces you to be concise and which allows you to quickly share journal entries/notes via Twitter, SMS and so on, then microJournal is ideal.

Using microJournal

☆ Tap a saved note to share it.

☆ Hold on a saved note to edit it, clone it (start editing a copy of it) or to delete it.

☆ Export and import to and from SD card to allow you to backup/restore your entries.

☆ Premium export to word processors, blogs and email now available (requires purchase of key app).

Free

☆ The main functions of the app will remain free (including backup facility).

Premium Features

☆ There are several extra features to thank those who support the development of the App including extra settings (character limit, skip menu) and extra export options.

Rian

"I use this as a real journal. Capturing short, quick thoughts right as they happen just works so much better than trying to remember at day's end."

Fail Log: Habit Tracker

Amimetic
Eliminate negative habits (for Free) with Fail Log.

Do you find yourself using Facebook or email more than you'd like? Or eating too much unhealthy food? Or smoking? Or doing other negative things? Fail Log can help.

The problem with lots of negative activities are that they have a small, short-term, repeated positive feedback. This is what can make them so addictive.

Fail Log allows you to quickly and easily make a record of when you give in to a negative habit. This associates a negative feedback with it, which will help you avoid doing it in the future.

Later you can use the app to analyse when you are most likely to fail (and then you can then take action at these times to avoid doing it).

"I like it, simple and to the point, makes u accountable"

Crystal

"Simple and effective"

Devon

"Simple, easy to use, in the moment and visceral. Excellent to get awareness and to get proactive about bad habits."

Days To Live DeathClock Widget

Amimetic
This simple widget-App gives you an incredibly inaccurate estimate of when you will die. It is a reminder to try to make each day count, to do something worthwhile, not to waste time unnecessarily and to be glad you are alive.

"Almost everything—all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure—these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart."

(Steve Jobs)

★ How to Use ★

Use the icon to configuration the widget and add to your homescreen by holding your thumb down in an empty part or in the other normal ways.

Use estimate option for rough estimate, or manual to pick a date (perhaps after using a more sophisticated prediction taking into account many lifestyle factors).

Sketch and Share

Amimetic
A simple free App which allows you to quickly sketch something and then share it to many other popular Android Apps and Social Networks.

You can share to Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus. You can save to Dropbox and similar Apps. You can open it in Apps like Instagram or Snapseed to apply effects.

Simple and quick, with vastly less functionality than most alternatives.

How to use

Select one of six colours (I'm British hence this spelling!) and sketch something. There are three menu options (which appear in action bar on recent versions of Android but require you to
press menu button on older devices):

Share: saves image and opens sharing prompt (choose an App to share to).
Help (access this).
Delete (clear the canvas).

I selected the six colours from Google's design guidelines, they aren't going to change.

There are many much more advanced drawing Apps for Android which you may find more suitable if you want to do advanced things. This allows you to quickly sketch things, then share to social networks or apply filters in other Apps.

Write Notebook

Amimetic
Clean, minimalist notebook and journal with background sync (via Dropbox) between Android devices (phones, tablets, ...). Supports Markdown for formatting.

Choose from five kinds of notebooks (journal, notebook, quote book and more), multiple fonts and themes. Each kind of notebook is customised for its purpose (for example journal entries are sorted by date, whereas quotes are sorted by attribution).

Full screen editing (or as close as Android can do), immersive mode support for Android 4.4.

Dropbox

NB A (free) Dropbox account is required to use this App (this App is build around the Dropbox Sync functionality). It will not function at all without linking to Dropbox. After linking it will work offline (and sync when you are online). If you have the Dropbox App installed this is very quick, but you can also link via the web (no need to actually have Dropbox installed).

Note (for tablet users linking to Dropbox)

If you are using a small tablet and the current version of the Dropbox App you may need to hold it in portrait orientation to link (there is a bug in the Dropbox App with landscape mode; I assume it will be fixed soon).

Your data

You can import data from Write (NB You must backup first from within Write) and create local backups (and restore data from these backups).

Write

Write Notebook is the next generation of what CNET call one of the "Best Android notepad apps for students", Write. I am also planning an App for Google Drive. But for a general purpose App which will work with any Android compatible sync/sharing/cloud platform see Write. Unlike Write Notebook, which focuses on Dropbox, this is agnostic about the sharing service(s) (if any). Write also has some extra features such as an extra row of buttons and a spell check for bluetooth keyboard users which will be coming to Write Notebook at some point in the future.

Evolution Live Wallpapers

Amimetic
There are lots technically impressive Live Wallpapers for Android, but I find these get in the way. I wanted something more subtle, that would slowly change over time without distracting me from actually using my phone and tablet. This is it.

A collection of three liver wallpapers, each with beautiful gradients which slowly change throughout the day to reflect the current time without distracting.

Includes

★ Original (dramatic changes through the day)
★ Solar (brighter colours)
★ Winter (warm, mostly red/orange colours)

Generate Mini IDE

Amimetic
Using Generate you can create beautiful graphics that grow and evolve using a concise scripting language (based on the Context Free language, lightly altered for Android).

You can share scripts with others (shared scripts should work on Aza Raskin's Algorithm Ink site and (mostly) work in the Context Free software).

You can save graphics, or use the above versions to produce much higher resolution versions (consider Generate as a kind of sketch book).

Comes with many sample scripts and integrated help/reference.

Uses Aza Raskin's Javascript implementation of Context Free (source code and other links are contained within Generate).

Goals: a priority tracker

Amimetic
Now free. Completely overhauled interface, swipe-able main view, with quick access to notes and entirely new overall/summary view.

Goals is a tool for identifying the high level priorities in your life and tracking how well you are doing at each.

We all have high level goals: spending time with our loved ones, succeeding in our career or projects, learning, enjoying life and doing good.

In Goals you make a list of these and track how well you think you are focusing on each. Over time you build up a comprehensive and useful visualization of how you are doing both in an absolute and relative sense.

You can then see how your real priorities relate to your life as you actually live it. Goals is an easy to use tool that helps you to focus on the things that matter.

micro Journal Key

Amimetic
Unlocks premium functions in micro Journal.

Enables export to Word, OpenOffice Writer

Enables quick export option.

Extra settings (character limit and how strict it is) and skip main screen.

And unlocks the full collection of writing prompts via light bulb button.

This application is really tiny (so doesn't take up space on your phone) and doesn't have an icon (you can uninstall it via 'Manage Applications' or via Google Play App), though you must have it installed to use extra functions.

Complex Camera

Amimetic
The camera I wanted

I've never quite been happy with the various camera options on Android. I wanted something with a clean interface, a choice of aspect ratios, optional guidelines and which allowed me to quickly apply non-exaggerated effects to full resolution images. Complex Camera is the App I had in mind.

Free

Complex Camera is free to try. Developers talk a lot about fragmentation on Android; I hadn't really found this an issue until I made a camera App. Complex Camera optimises for speed rather than efficiency: it may not work well on your device so please try it out. If you have a recent, powerful Android device it should work well.

If you are having problems try reducing the resolution of captured photos (via the 'pixelation' buttons in the settings menu).

8 Filters

Complex Camera uses the fast image processing capabilities of your Android device to quickly present you with 8 previews using the full resolution of your screen. Simply tap to convert and save a full resolution version of any of the filters.

Sharing

Complex Camera plays well with other Apps in the Android ecosystem. Unlike some camera apps which try to lock you into their own services Complex Camera saves full resolution images to your device and offers immediate sharing/importing into other Apps.

Design

Complex Camera opts for a clean, minimalist design. It uses no in-App text, merely a set of properly-Android images.
