Uncover cool new features by updating your phone

Upgrade your Android phone to the latest operating system available to access new security features, improved accessibility, and more. Note that this isn’t a complete list of new Android 14 features, and that they may vary by device and manufacturer.

Make your phone more secure

Android updates come with new innovations that help to keep your device more secure, and Android 14 is no different. For extra security on the PIN used to unlock your phone, toggle on “Enhanced PIN privacy” to disable the animations that usually appear while you enter it. For extra security, you can also control how often your screen auto-locks by tapping “Lock after screen timeout” to view and select timeout options.
Tip
Want more convenience? On devices running Android 14, if your PIN is set to six digits or more, you can bypass tapping the “Enter” button to unlock by toggling-on “Auto-confirm unlock,” which will automatically unlock your phone once you input the correct PIN.

Manage your health data in one place

With the new Health Connect feature in your phone’s settings, you have a central way to connect compatible health and fitness apps and manage the data in one place, all while staying in control of your privacy. Just go to your privacy settings, then tap Health Connect > Get started. Next, go to “App permissions” to view and edit which of your apps have access to Health Connect; to change permissions, you can just tap an app’s name from the list, then toggle its data categories on or off.

Discover new accessibility features

Say hello to helpful accessibility features, such as the new and improved pinch-to-zoom magnifier. Misplaced your reading glasses? You can now scale your phone’s font size up to 200%. Even better: With Android 14’s new smart scaler, you’ll experience fewer issues with web page layouts after adjusting your font size.

For those hard of hearing, try turning on “Flash notifications'' in your accessibility settings – just toggle on “Screen flash,""Camera flash,” or both to get bright bursts of color whenever you receive a call, notification, and more. Want to change things up? Tap “Screen flash” to view a variety of flash color options.
Connect your hearing device
Tip
Easily connect your hearing aids by going to the “Hearing devices” section of your accessibility settings, then tapping the plus sign to pair a new device. Want to speed things up? Access this screen at the touch of a button by toggling-on “Hearing device shortcut” – you’ll then be able to tap the hearing aid symbol at the side of your screen whenever you need to quickly head to your settings.

Hunt for a hidden mini game

If you’ve updated to Android 14, you can find a hidden Easter egg: a fun mini game set in space. Go to your phone’s settings, tap “About phone,” then triple-tap “Android version” until you see a spaceship graphic appear on a starry background. Then, tap and hold the circle in the middle of the screen to load the game and start playing.
