Challenges and game modes in Candy Crush Saga

Candy Crush Saga’s premise of matching candies seems simple, but sometimes, the game throws something extra at you to keep things interesting. This guide will explain some of the different modes and experiences in Candy Crush Saga, from limited-time events to fiendish challenges.

Just when you start to get comfortable, you might begin level that is rated "extra hard", "super hard", or "legendary". Each of these designated stages play out like a normal level, only with added elements that increase the difficulty. Getting through one of these on your first try is no small order, but with preparation and smart play, you should be able to make it happen.

The game will sometimes ask you if you wish to enter a "Champions Race", after which it will add a Finish Line to the level path ahead of you. If you decide to take on the race, you'll be pitted against other players who are playing through the same set of levels as you, and your task is to finish the fastest. Finishing a race in the top three will yield big rewards, and it’s a fun way to compete against the rest of the Candy Crush community.

Events are limited-time offerings that are set around a particular theme. By completing the tasks laid out in the event, you'll earn items, lives, and in some cases, gold bars. Take the Walk Of Fame event pictured above; in that event, green candies became "movie candies", and crushing them moves you up the leaderboard in the hopes of snagging the big prize at the end of the event.
