Tips to get started in Whiteout Survival

Whiteout Survival is a clever combo of a city sim bundled with a strategy game. You’ll start with three people lost in a barren, arctic setting, but eventually you’ll face a sprawling set of management challenges as your once-quaint camp becomes a giant settlement of survivors. Keeping everyone organized and focused can be grueling, but this guide will help you withstand the ice and snow.
Use these quick tips to build a strong core for your city that will allow you to branch out and see everything Whiteout Survival has to offer. Watch out for snowstorms and keep your citizens happy, and you’ll soon be thriving in the harsh and unrelenting cold of Whiteout Survival.

Let the Furnace guide you

As your city grows, you may find yourself unsure which tasks you should prioritize. If you ever need a quick tip on what to do next, check the Furnace and see what you need to upgrade it.
The Furnace is the most important structure in your city. It's the city square – the center of town – and the one thing keeping everyone warm. Upgrading it unlocks new features and buildings, so figuring out what you need to get to the next level will give you a clearer idea about how to progress in the game.

Upgrade, upgrade, upgrade

Once your Furnace is leveling up, you can focus on other tasks as your construction timer counts down to zero. Take a look around at your other buildings, find out which ones are in most need of a renovation, and focus on those.
After all, the Furnace will task you with upgrading structures like the Coal Mine, Hunter's Hut, and more anyway. If you have the resources to start right away, you’ll make the city building process that much easier in the future. Of course, you're going to need supplies to make this happen, which means you'll need to explore.

Go on Explorations and Expeditions

The Explorer's Cabin just to the north of the Furnace is a gateway to a boatload of resources, so long as you have a team of heroes capable of collecting them. You'll unlock heroes throughout the game, but as soon as you can, you should check out the Exploration menu.
There are two main modes you can access from the Explorer's Cabin: Exploration and Expedition. Exploration is a combat mode where you fight approaching enemies and slowly collect rewards from them. Expedition, meanwhile, is where you complete missions – which may or may not involve battling enemies – to earn resource prizes. Make sure you take your power levels into account before engaging.

Keep your people happy

Finally, you’ll eventually unlock a morale system of sorts, where citizens request certain upgrades or buildings. The citizens or ‘Survivors’ are your workers in the game, so their needs are important. While it may be easy to forget about this system once it’s been introduced, doing so would be a bad idea.
Town morale plays a significant role in how your city runs, so make sure to address the needs of the citizens whenever possible. The happier your townsfolk are, the more efficient they'll be in their tasks, which means more resources and more opportunities for growth.
