How to earn, equip, and use Gears in Brawl Stars

In Brawl Stars, you can unlock a number of buffs for your favorite character through the upgrade mechanic on that character's in-game menu screen. One of these buffs is Gears.

Gears are a selection of different boosts that can be assigned to a Brawler, depending on their level. Here, we'll go over all you need to know about Gears, including how to unlock them, what each Gear does, and when you can equip them to your Brawler of choice.

Gears are individual passive perks that can be assigned to a Brawler once they reach a certain level. Some deal with healing, others with speed, or even temporary shielding for a health boost when needed. You can equip your Brawler with a combination of up to 2 Gears at once, so figure out what works best for you.

Gears specially crafted for a particular Brawler can only be used for them. But Super Rare Gears can be bought for 1000 Coins and equipped on all Brawlers. The seven different Gears available for each Brawler are as follows:

The first Gear slot is unlocked when your Brawler reaches level 8 through the Upgrades function on their character page. This is different from your "account level" – which applies to the total progress throughout your Brawl Stars experience. The second Gear slot unlocks at level 10, and you can assign another Gear to it.

You can purchase Gears with in-game Gold that can be assigned to a Gear slot. Most Gears cost 1000 Gold, with the Super Charge Gear being the only one to cost 1500 Gold.

Once you've unlocked them all, experiment to figure out the combination that works best for you. Gears provide important buffs to your Brawlers and could spell the difference between victory and defeat.
