Go head-to-head in these PvP games
One of our favorite ways to take gaming to the next level is to play against a friend (or foe). Dive into the action and test your skills with the best PvP games on Play.
Why we love this
- PUBG popularized “battle royale” — a huge arena free-for-all to be the last man standing
- This faithful recreation of the original PC game features new mobile-friendly features like daily login rewards
- Play it your way — pick off distant enemies as an unseen sniper, or race into battle with guns blazing
In this impressive port of a modern PC classic, you’ll scavenge for weapons, armor, and even vehicles on a remote island — all while duking it out against 99 other players in a constantly shrinking battlefield. Matches can get pretty long, but thankfully you can jump right into the next game after dying.
More InfoWhy we love this
- Quick-thinking strategists will adore this 2D platformer’s nonstop, capture-the-flag action
- Team up with friends in 3v3 arena combat, or brawl in an all-out deathmatch
- It’s not all rockets and gunfire: You’ll also need to be clever to overcome defensive sentries
While Mayhem might have less flash and drama than its peers, we found ourselves absorbed in unlocking and upgrading the wide variety of characters, including twists on classic roles like tank and archer. We have concerns about a formulaic loot box system affecting balance in the long run, but the here-and-now action is unbeatable.
More InfoWhy we love this
- This comprehensive, blockbuster-quality 5v5 multiplayer battle arena defines the genre on mobile
- With a roster of over 30 unlockable characters, you’re bound to find your hero that suits your playstyle
- Slick music and voice acting make it a joy to immerse yourself in this fantasy world
At first glimpse Vainglory is just beautiful, its characters and three-lane maps positively gleaming with detail. Play for a minute, however, and you’ll find a riveting experience as well, with intense matches lasting anywhere from five to 25 minutes. First-timers may flounder, but those familiar with the genre will lap up the action.
More InfoWhy we love this
- This colorful shooter will appease newbies and hardened veterans alike
- With cartoony visuals and five-minute matches, it’s big on fun but light on commitment
- An enormous community means that you’ll never have to wait long for a match
Guns of Boom is a solid, no-fuss online shooter that’s more approachable than most. Autofire takes some stress out of gameplay — all you need to do is find an enemy in your crosshairs. Your starter weapon is decent, but slow-to-earn “gunbucks” means it might be a while before you can think about upgrades.
More InfoWhy we love this
- With cutesy graphics and a top-down point-of-view, this is a highly approachable take on battle royale
- A cross-platform playerbase means that you’re always playing against real people
- If you get tired of classic battle royale, mix it up with weekend-only events
Try to triumph as the sole survivor of a 100-player free-for-all, or assemble a team to take on others in “duo” or “squad” mode. Weekend-only events introduce challenges such as 50-man teams (!) and the added complication of zombie hordes (one of the few times you’ll encounter actual zombies, despite what the name may have you think).
