About this audiobook

For fans of Wendy Webb and Simone St. James—a chilling, romantic ghost story that spans two world wars, two brave young women, and the terrible truth that binds them.

Their secret didn’t die with her.

Colorado, 1918: Millie Boylan is a nurse who sees darkness marking those soon to die. When she falls for a doomed soldier named Edward Gainsbury, she vows to save his life. But Millie soon finds the greatest danger is the one she cannot see.

Colorado, 1943: With a brother gone to war, Dinah must learn how to fend for herself. She spends her days working an abandoned mine and her nights longing to escape her dying town. When Dinah sees a young soldier who looks just like Edward Gainsbury out in the snow—though he supposedly died in 1918—she follows him into the woods.

Dinah is quickly drawn into the mysteries surrounding the Gainsbury family. Unexplained events begin to follow her wherever she goes—strange footsteps appearing in the snow, hands pressed to windows of buildings long abandoned. But what she discovers will force Dinah to confront the true history of her town and the darkness hiding inside those she least suspects.

“I cannot even explain how much I loved this story! What an absolutely amazing mix of coming of age, paranormal, and mystery...I couldn’t put it down!” -BreeAnn, blogger at She Just Loves Books

How Much It May Storm is a fantastic historical story of adventure, romance and mystery. Readers will find it especially interesting to read the parts set during the 1918 flu pandemic. The parallels to our current situation are fascinating. One of the most special parts of this book is a very believable ghost who’s presence has made me re-think the supernatural. The two female protagonists are both brave women who go against the conventions of their time, making honorable choices to help others and be true to themselves.

I've now read several books by Willis and each time I find myself totally engrossed in her characters and plot lines. I'm particularly drawn to the incredible amount of research she must put in to craft each piece of her books. With an expert touch, she manage to weave together dual timelines and enough detail to keep you turning pages. This time, we're sucked into the stories of Millie and Dinah, who lives decades apart but are tied together by fate. If you're a fan of the supernatural or young adult fantasy, How Much May It Storm is one to put on your TO READ list!

I love a historical novel that tells an unknown aspect of a well-known period. How Much It May Storm takes us into a mining town in Colorado during both the WWI and WWII era. We get ghostly sightings, two spirited female characters, and a lot of adventure. Loved the dramatic (and emotional) ending!
