A beautifully written, thoughtful and insightful book full of perspectives that do not get discussed often enough when we talk about WW2. I have learnt a lot, felt connected and moved by the characters and their stories, and will carry this book somewhere in my soul. You cannot hear the details contained in it's pages and walk away untouched. * This book does contain reference to both sexual and domestic violence but it is not graphic. The trigger warning at the start of the book mentions the other aspects of war based violence, but did not mention these.

Elisabeth Storrs has a great love for history and myths. She is the award-winning author of A Tale of Ancient Rome trilogy which was endorsed by Ursula Le Guin, Kate Quinn and Ben Kane. Now her obsession lies with Trojan treasure and twisted Germanic history in her new release, Fables & Lies endorsed by Olivia Hawker. Lucy Tregear is a British stage and and screen actor. She has played Mrs Boyle in the West End production of The Mousetrap. She has also appeared in plays with the RSC and various musical and operatic productions, including The Minotaur and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s By Jeeves. Her narrations include The Paris Notebook by Tessa Harris and The Decoy by Florrie Palmer.
