About this audiobook

The Deveraux line is famous...for a family curse. The rich must marry the poor or lose their prosperity. Peter Baring is the last of the Deveraux and sinking slowly into poverty. But will marriage to his icy business partner save him?

Beatrice Nottham dreams of leaving Earth for a fresh start. But only married couples are allowed to move off-world. Marrying a man she’s unsure she loves will solve that problem...but at what cost?

When Beatrice visits England to research her branch of the Deveraux family tree, she meets Peter and sparks fly. Both question everything they ever believed would fulfill their dreams. If they dare to be together, will the Curse follow them beyond the stars? The answer to breaking its power could lie in the heart of a crumbling tapestry...if they have the courage to try.

Reviewing for the audiobook version of this. I enjoy having a short and sweet, clean happy ending romance every once in a while, and this one scratched that itch for me. The main characters are cute and a nice fit together and the sci-fi/curse mix into this was a sweet little addition. The short music interludes were a bit jarring at first as I wasn't expecting them but are easy enough to ignore once you know they're there. Just a nice short story I'd recommend reading!

This short but delightful tale weaves in a bit of magic and history. The author narrates the story herself and does a good job with the voices, making the annoying characters appropriately annoying. I like how, in a short space, the author was able to establish the plot, setting, and characters, and resolve the conflict in a believable way. The characters' treatment of the tapestry did make me cringe inside since I just can't imagine that with a real historical object, but it works for the plot.

This is an interesting and intriguing story with a bit of historical, futuristic and more. The story is fairly short and quick read/listen. Beatrice and Peter, are looking to settle, can they find more? The story is different, easy to follow and a bit entertaining.
