The Un-Men (2007) Issues
A shocking secret from the labs of Castle Arcane somehow reemerges in Aberrance. In something out of the world's most twisted buddy movie, Kilcrop must team up with Cranius to investigate how the macabre "'Magna Mater" got there, and how to stop it. But as usual, Cranius has a sinister agenda all his own.
Since his arrival in Aberrance, Kilcrop has been dogged by dark hints of a secret past-a past he shares with none other than Cranius himself. Now, in this special stand-alone issue, the hidden history of the albino agent and the Living Brain is revealed. And like all things in Aberrance, it's not pretty.
'Uncorp Asunder,' part 1 of 2. A venerable Swamp Thing villain makes an uninvited appearance in Aberrance as Constance Sunderland looks to the UnVolve technology to 're-engineer' her fading beauty. Her sights are set on the expectant daddy, Janus, Sr., whose determination to carry his freakish child to term threatens the very existence of The Un-Men.
The curtain falls on the freak show. Vertigo's strange band of mutants and misfits save the best for last in this powerfully perverse conclusion to THE UN-MEN. Cranius 'The Living Brain' perpetrates his sickest crime yet, Kilcrop discovers the tragic secret of Niko's past, and Aberrance erupts in a bloodbath that puts the carnage back in 'carny.'
Part 2 of "Children of Paradox." Inkabod reveals the source of his skin-crawling condition and his tale has Cranius a little too interested. Could this strange affliction be somehow linked to the origin of the Un-Men themselves? Possibly, but Kilcrop and Niko have stranger things to deal with.
Part 1 of "Children of Paradox," an anomalous new story arc. Agent Kilcrop reluctantly returns to the deviant dystopia known as Aberrance. As the city's new security chief. Now, when an UnCorp employee is stricken by a grotesque illness, Kilcrop must face temptations he never could have imagined-in the form of a seductive sexpot with a sickening secret.
The brain-rattling conclusion to the debut story arc, "Get Your Freak On." Cranius goes prime time on the premier of "American Freak." But his reality show takes an unreal turn when the creeping flesh of Damien Kane makes an unscheduled guest appearance. And Kane has just one thing on his mind: vengeance against The Un-Men.
With Janus, Sr. and Jr. brutally severed from each other, the Un-Men-produced reality show American Freak faces premature cancellation--until Cranius has a brainstorm (what else?). Meanwhile, Kilcrop comes face-to-face with the leaders of the gaff uprising, unaware he's been betrayed by someone close to him, who he'd like to bring closer.
Cranius's hideous experiment on Lobster Boy leads to a discovery that stuns even the Living Brain himself. Kilcrop investigates the corruption at UnCorp's highest levels with traditional gumshoe methods, and gets a surprise of his own. But angel-winged Niko delivers the biggest shock of all to an uninvited evening visitor.
They say the freaks come out at night. But in Aberrance, U.S.A., freaks are big business. On the board of directors sit the freakiest freaks of all--birthed in the profane laboratories of Anton Arcane--The Un-Men. In this new, ongoing series--masterfully mixing gritty noir, grindhouse horror and gallows humor--an albino agent known as Kilcrop is dispatched by the government to solve the murder of a sideshow attraction called "The Gill-Boy." To uncover the truth, Kilcrop must infiltrate Aberrance, where society's most misshapen outcasts find their own kind of freedom. But with the original Un-Men in charge, Kilcrop must confront a corruption far deeper than the mysterious death of a man who breathes through his neck. And he must deal with his growing love for a one-armed, angel-winged beauty named Niko--an attraction that could prove fatal. The truth he discovers may be the secret hidden within his own outsider's soul.
