• Reveals that the easiest way to communicate with the departed is through dreams
• Offers methods for helpful and timely communication with deceased loved ones
• Provides powerful Active Dreaming practices from ancient and indigenous cultures for journeying beyond the gates of death for wisdom and healing
We yearn for contact with departed loved ones. We miss them, ache for forgiveness or closure, and long for confirmation that there is life beyond physical death. In The Dreamer’s Book of the Dead, Robert Moss explains that we have entirely natural contact with the departed in our dreams, when they come visiting and we may travel into their realms. As we become active dreamers, we can heal our relationship with the departed and move beyond the fear of death. We also can develop the skills to function as soul guides for others, helping the dying to approach the last stage of life with courage and grace, opening gates for their journeys beyond death, and even escorting them to the Other Side.
Drawing on a wealth of personal experience as well as many ancient and indigenous traditions, Moss offers stories to inspire us and guide us. He shares his extraordinary visionary relationship with the poet W. B. Yeats, whose greatest ambition was to create a Western Book of the Dead, to feed the soul hunger of our times. Moss teaches us the truth of Chief Seattle’s statement that "there is no death; we just change worlds."
shamanic adventures in the world-behind-the-world.
Our earliest poets
were shamans. Today as in the earliest times, true shamans are poets of
consciousness who know the power of song and story to teach and to heal. They
understand that the right words open pathways between the worlds and draw closer
the gods and goddesses who wish to live through us.
Robert Moss brings this
ancient bardic tradition to life in this collection of poems and stories that
stream directly from dreams and shamanic adventures in the
world-behind-the-world. You’ll be carried into a reality where everything is
alive and conscious, where tigers and bears can lend you their forms and raven
and hawk can give you their sight, where the ancestors are talking, talking, and
the gates to the Otherworld open from wherever you are.
through these pages, to how shamans use poetic speech to call the soul back
home, into the bodies of those who have lost vital energy through pain or trauma
or heartbreak. You’ll travel to the Island of No Pain where lost boys and girls
are kept safe. And you’ll learn to make the return journey, and sing the lost
soul back into the body where it belongs.
In the Mohawk language, the word for interpreter, sakowennakarahtats, speaks of a person who can transplant something from one soil to grow in another. The Interpreter is such a book. Through its pages, we are able to find ourselves in another time, and in other worlds. We accompany the Four Indian Kings on their 1710 visit to London to see the Queen; they were not kings in their own matriarchal society, but they included Hendrick, the redoubtable warrior who later instructed Ben Franklin that he must urge the colonists to unite in a confederacy on the Iroquois model. We travel with Vanishing Smoke, the Bear dreamer, on his journey into the afterlife. And we learn, with Island Woman and Conrad, how we can travel across time as well as space in shamanic lucid dreaming, and guide souls to where they belong.
In his new preface, Robert Moss describes how his Cycle of the Iroquois—Fire Along the Sky, The Firekeeper, and The Interpreter—began with dreams and visions in which an ancient Iroquois arendiwanen (woman of power) insisted on teaching him in her own language, until he was obliged to learn it.
America was forged.
“Splendidly researched and wildly amusing historical
adventure … Tom Jones as The Deerslayer.” — Kirkus
Dearest Shane, I dream you as the leopard. Last night
you came to me in his skin.
So, in the voice of one of his lovers,
we first encounter Shane Hardacre, the narrator and protagonist of Fire
Along the Sky. An eloquent Anglo-Irish rake and fictional kinsman of Sir
William Johnson, the King’s Superintendent of Indians, Shane comes to the New
World from London because of a doubtful wager. “I laid money on whether a man
would take his own life,” as Shane informs us. That man was Robert Davers, a
Norfolk baronet who sought to escape melancholia and learn the nature of the
soul among the dream-catchers of North America. He ignored Johnson’s caution
that “if you go looking for the spirit world of Indians, you will find you are
already inside it” and found savage death during the Pontiac revolt.
enter the extraordinary world created by William Johnson in the Mohawk Valley in
the aftermath of the French and Indian War, in the time when America was forged.
We meet extraordinary historical figures: the warrior chief Pontiac and the
Delaware Prophet who inspired his revolt; Angelique, the “Pompadour of Detroit”;
Molly Brant and her brother Joseph; and Patience Wright, the “wax sybil,” an
American spy in London who rivaled Madame Tussaud. The action races from the
notorious Hell-Fire Club in England to the murder of Pontiac near St. Louis,
from Mesmer’s performance for Ben Franklin in a Paris salon to bigamy and
intrigue in New Orleans when an Irish captain-general held the city in the name
of the Spanish king.
Fire Along the Sky is grand entertainment
that carries lightly a wealth of original research summarized in the copious
notes “from the editor.” Through the narrator’s worldly skepticism, we are given
a window into the shamanic dream practices of early Native Americans. The voice
of Valerie D’Arcy, in the correspondence interwoven with Shane’s narrative,
provides a knowing woman’s counterpoint to Shane’s phallocratic assumptions.
• Explains Native American shamanic dream practices and their applications and purpose in modern life
• Shows how dreams call us to remember and honor our soul’s true purpose
• Offers powerful Active Dreaming methods for regaining lost soul energy to restore our vitality and identity
The ancient teaching of the Iroquois people is that dreams are experiences of the soul in which we may travel outside the body, across time and space, and into other dimensions--or receive visitations from ancestors or spiritual guides. Dreams also reveal the wishes of the soul, calling us to move beyond our ego agendas and the web of other people’s projections into a deeper, more spirited life. They call us to remember our sacred contracts and reclaim the knowledge that belonged to us, on the levels of soul and spirit, before we entered our present life experience. In dreams we also discover where our vital soul energy may have gone missing--through pain or trauma or heartbreak--and how to get it back.
Robert Moss was called to these ways when he started dreaming in a language he did not know, which proved to be an early form of the Mohawk Iroquois language. From his personal experiences, he developed a spirited approach to dreaming and living that he calls Active Dreaming.
Dreamways of the Iroquois is at once a spiritual odyssey, a tribute to the deep wisdom of the First Peoples, a guide to healing our lives through dreamwork, and an invitation to soul recovery.
‘Grouse: The Natural History of British and Irish Species’ covers four of the most emblematic species of our upland regions. Collectively they have the most fascinating life histories of any bird group, individually they have their own stories to tell: the ptarmigan is a resident of our highest mountain areas, the black grouse is famous for its extraordinary mating displays, the capercaillie is one of our largest birds and the red grouse, whilst no-longer one of the few British endemics, is one of the most heavily researched species. All four face similar problems, including habitat loss, predators, pests, disease and food shortage. This is compounded by issues of managed animal populations and controversy surrounding the commercial worth of grouse.
This volume in the New Naturalist series, written by two of the world's leading grouse specialists, offers a fascinating insight into the natural history and biology of these birds, including aspects of their behaviour, the historical relevance of their names, the reasons behind population fluctuations and international conservation efforts.

"Solitary Witches," writes Holland, "are those who practice the Craft without a coven or other group. Some Witches are solitary because of circumstances, but the rest of us are solitary by choice...we feel no need to join a formal group. We like our independence and prefer the freedom to do things our own way..."
While lucid (consciously aware) in the dream state and able to act and interact with dream figures, objects, and settings, dream expert Robert Waggoner experienced something transformative and unexpected. He was able to interact consciously with the dream observer - the apparent Inner Self - within the dream. At first this seemed shocking, even impossible, since psychology normally alludes to such theoretical inner aspects as the Subliminal Self, the Center, the Internal Self-Helper in vague and theoretical ways. Waggoner came to realize, however, that aware interaction with the Inner Self was not only possible, but actual and highly inspiring. He concluded that while aware in the dream state, one has both a psychological tool and a platform from which to understand dreaming and the larger picture of man's psyche as well. Waggoner proposes 5 stages of lucid dreaming and guides readers through them, offering advice for those who have never experienced the lucid dream state and suggestions for how experienced lucid dreamers can advance to a new level.
Lucid Dreaming offers exciting insights and vivid illustrations that will intrigue not only avid dreamworkers but anyone who is interested in consciousness, identity, and the definition of reality.

There is a reason we dream at night. It's not random nonsense. When we are dreaming, we are thinking on a much deeper, more insightful level than when we're awake. When we're dreaming, we're actually problem solving...it's just in a different language. Our minds are speaking to us in codes: warning, helping, and guiding us through our constantly evolving situations in life. The mind, through dreams, is trying to alert us to problems it wants fixed. The truth is, our best thinking isn't done in the shower, it's done while we dream. In fact, when we say, "Let me sleep on it," what we're really saying is, "Let me dream on it."
In this easy-to-use guide, renowned dream analyst Lauri Quinn Loewenberg gives you the tools to interpret the often confounding language of dreams. You will learn how to:
* unlock the hidden dream communications your mind wants you to know
* understand commonly occurring people, places and animals as extensions of your personality
* decipher the real meaning behind nightmares like falling, drowning, and being chased
* discover the big messages in seemingly small dream elements as Lauri guides you through dozens of real-life dreams
* use your dreams as a tool to solve your everyday problems and effect real change in your life and relationships
* reference the most important dream symbols with a comprehensive dream dictionary

The aim of this work is to reveal the methods by which a person can lucid dream. When I write lucid dream, I mean conscious dream. The Secret Life of Lucidity is the most practical, non subjective, holistic dream work method you will find.
This method is not for the obtaining of an occasional lucid dream but of a life long practice. At the end of each chapter I will give you a step in accomplishing lucidity. Each step is meant to build upon the other culminating in a life long practice which is the goal. In most cases, but not all, the chapter and step will be related. Be sure to follow my prescriptions. Wait to be successful before changing the order of the steps, or even customizing your practice to fit who you are, and yes upon becoming familiar with the landscape of consciousness and dreams you will be a master, comparatively, in your own right, and can change things as you see fit.
In Dreaming While Awake, Mindell shows how to become aware of these "flirts" from the dreamworld and how to interpret their message. The goal, he says, is to be wide awake and lucid 24 hours a day in the midst of this unending dreamfield of information.
Practicing 24-hour lucid dreaming:Helps you solve personal, physical, and emotional problemsServes as a preventive medicine for relationships and health, helping you catch the earliest warning signs before they turn into problemsHelps resolve conflicts in relationships, families, large groups, corporations, even politics
Dreaming is the mystical source of reality, says Mindell. "My goal is to make the Dreaming roots of reality so accessible, so visceral, that your conscious mind will give you back your right to dream."
Man has always been fascinated by the world of dreams. For thousands of years, dreams have been important to many cultures. They are how we can get in touch with ourselves, to learn, to grow and to overcome. However, how can we fully explore our dreams when they fade as we wake up? The answer is lucid dreaming. Lucid dreaming is when we know that we are in a dream state and therefore, we can look at our dream elements and find the meaning behind them.
Everything that we see in our dreams is produced by our own minds; lucid dreaming allows us to be aware of what we see in our dreams, helping us to learn and to remember what we have seen.

First published by Sigmund Freud in 1899, The Interpretation of Dreams considers why we dream and what it means in the larger picture of our psychological lives. Delving into theories of manifest and latent dream content, the special language of dreams, dreams as wish fulfillments, the significance of childhood experiences, and much more, Freud, widely considered the “father of psychoanalysis,” thoroughly and thoughtfully examines dream psychology. Encompassing dozens of case histories and detailed analyses of actual dreams, this landmark text presents Freud's legendary work as a tool for comprehending our sleeping experiences.
Renowned for translating Freud's German writings into English, James Strachey—with the assistance of Anna Freud—first published this edition in 1953. Incorporating all textual alterations made by Freud over a period of thirty years, it remains the most complete translation of the work in print.
