My name is Alton Brown, and I wrote this book. It’s my first in a few years because I’ve been a little busy with TV stuff and interwebs stuff and live stage show stuff. Sure, I’ve been cooking, but it’s been mostly to feed myself and people in my immediate vicinity—which is really what a cook is supposed to do, right? Well, one day I was sitting around trying to organize my recipes, and I realized that I should put them into a personal collection. One thing led to another, and here’s EveryDayCook. There’s still plenty of science and hopefully some humor in here (my agent says that’s my “wheelhouse”), but unlike in my other books, a lot of attention went into the photos, which were all taken on my iPhone (take that, Instagram) and are suitable for framing. As for the recipes, which are arranged by time of day, they’re pretty darned tasty. Highlights include:
• Morning: Buttermilk Lassi, Overnight Coconut Oats, Nitrous Pancakes
• Coffee Break: Cold Brew Coffee, Lacquered Bacon, Seedy Date Bars
• Noon: Smoky the Meat Loaf, Grilled Cheese Grilled Sandwich, “EnchiLasagna” or “Lasagnalada”
• Afternoon: Green Grape Cobbler, Crispy Chickpeas, Savory Greek Yogurt Dip
• Evening: Bad Day Bitter Martini, Mussels-O-Miso, Garam Masalmon Steaks
• Anytime: The General’s Fried Chicken, Roasted Chile Salsa, Peach Punch Pops
• Later: Cider House Fondue, Open Sesame Noodles, Chocapocalypse Cookie
So let’s review: 101 recipes with mouthwatering photos, a plethora of useful insights on methods, tools, and ingredients all written by an “award-winning and influential educator and tastemaker.” That last part is from the PR office. Real people don’t talk like that.

Better yet, you can enjoy the best of both worlds with The Pescetarian Plan—a delicious, easy-to-follow, one-of-a-kind program for weight loss and optimal physical and mental well-being.
Inspired by the traditional Mediterranean way of eating (“pesce” is the Italian word for “fish,” and “pesca” is Spanish for “fishing,” thus the alternate spelling “pescatarian”), veteran nutritionist Janis Jibrin, M.S., R.D., offers step-by-step portion- and meal-planning instructions, including a wide variety of quick and easy breakfast, lunch, and dinner recipes to help you meet your weight-loss and health goals. She shares her deep knowledge of the science behind the healthiest diet on the planet, deftly explaining the amazing potential benefits of eating the pescetarian way—including whittling your waist, reducing chronic inflammation, preventing arterial plaque, and possibly warding off Alzheimer’s. She also breaks down the latest information about mercury, overfishing, and the environmental impact of your ingredient choices.
With Chef Sidra Forman’s expert guidance, you’ll become confident in the kitchen—fish and other types of seafood are much easier to prepare (and much harder to mess up!) than you may think. And the mouthwatering recipes and photos—including Broiled Trout with Preserved Lemon and Thyme, Grilled Shrimp with Peach BBQ Sauce, Roasted Chick Pea Snacks, Blueberries Baked with Sweet Cream, and Chocolate Cupcakes with Mint Icing—give you options the whole family will love.

Garrett Oliver, award-winning Brewmaster and Vice President of Production of the Brooklyn Brewery, recognized by Gourmet Magazine as a “passionate epicure and talented alchemist”, reveals the full spectrum of flavors contained in the more than 50 distinct styles of beer from around the world.
Most importantly, he shows how beer, which is far more versatile than wine, intensifies flavors when it’s appropriately paired with foods to create a dining experience most people have never imagined. Garrett, along with photographer Denton Tillman, traveled throughout Europe visiting fellow brewmasters to trace the beers of the world to their sources. Back in the States, he met with the star chefs he has advised about beer. The resulting book is a motherload of information, lushly illustrated with Tillman’s gorgeous photographs of the world’s best beers and the breweries that produce them. Above all, THE BREWMASTER’S TABLE is a new way of thinking about beer – one that will bring this under-appreciated brew to the status it deserves.
Whether it’s a Belgian wheat beer with a simple salad, a Brooklyn Pilsner to wash down spicy tacos, a pale ale alongside a porcini risotto with foie gras, or even a Framboise to accompany a dark chocolate brownie, beer is the perfect complement to any dining experience, at home in front of the TV or in a four-star restaurant.
He explains how beer is made, shows you its fascinating history, and then leads you through the amazing range of flavors displayed by the dozens of distinct styles of beer from around the world. Finally, he suggests beer pairings that will please your tastebuds and blow your mind. Whether you’re a beer aficionado, a passionate cook, or just someone who loves a great dinner, this book will indeed be a revelation.

Along the way, he developed an intricate process that effectively neutralizes the taste of cannabis when infusing it into butters and oils—opening the door to a new understanding of edibles.
In The Ganja Gourmet, JeffThe420Chef teaches home cooks how to safely create and experience healthy cannabis edibles. He begins with his signature “light tasting” CannaButter and CannaOils, which are the secret to his outrageously delicious and truly unique recipes. By mastering these staples, you can easily incorporate cannabis into everyday dishes—and the pot-sibilities are endless! From Eggs Canna-dict and Gnocchi with Hazelnut Canna-Pesto to Fish Tacos with Chipotle Canna-aioli and Pot-zah Ball Soup, these mouthwatering recipes take cooking with cannabis beyond midnight munchies, delighting the taste buds of recreational and medicinal users alike.
The Ganja Gourmet covers everything from brunch and small plates to salads and gourmet dinners, offering gluten free, vegetarian, vegan, and kosher options along the way. These recipes are fully adaptable to your needs, whether you want a full course meal for pain management or a quick snack to help you focus, relax, and enhance creativity. JeffThe420Chef combines his fun-loving approach to cooking with practical information about marijuana—including specifics about dosing, the principal strains, and the ingredient’s medical and recreational benefits.
Whether you’re new to edibles or a long-time medicinal user, The Ganja Gourmet will educate and entertain you, all while serving as your ultimate guide to cannabliss.
After landing rave reviews for their transformation of Eleven Madison Park from a French brasserie into a fine dining restaurant, chef Daniel Humm and general manager Will Guidara decided to refashion their Manhattan restaurant into a showcase for New York’s food artisans. Instead of looking abroad for inspiration, Humm and Guidara headed to their own backyards, exploring more than fifty farms in the greater New York area and diving into the city’s rich culinary heritage as a cultural melting pot.
In I Love New York, Humm and Guidara present an in-depth look at the region’s centuries-old farming traditions along with nearly 150 recipes that highlight its outstanding ingredients—from apples, celery root, and foie gras to nettles, pork, scallops, and venison. Included among these dishes designed explicitly for the home cook are reinterpretations of New York classics, like Oyster Pan Roast, Manhattan Clam Chowder, and the Bloody Mary. Lushly illustrated with photographs of the area’s dramatic landscapes and the farmers who tend the land, this unique ode introduces the concept of New York regional cuisine as it celebrates the bounty of this exceptional state.

Featuring more than 50 recipes that showcase this versatile and marvelous ingredient, Salted also includes a field guide to artisan salts profiling 80 varieties and exploring their dazzling characters, unique stories, production methods, and uses in cooking; plus a quick-reference guide covering over 150 salts.
Salting is one of the more ingrained habits in cooking, and according to Bitterman, all habits need to be questioned. He challenges you to think creatively about salting, promising that by understanding and mastering the principles behind it—and becoming familiar with the primary types of artisanal salts available—you will be better equipped to get the best results for your individual cooking style and personal taste. Whether he’s detailing the glistening staccato crunch of fleur de sel harvested from millennia-old Celtic saltmaking settlements in France or the brooding sizzle of forgotten rock salts transported by the Tauregs across the Sahara, Bitterman’s mission is to encourage us to explore the dazzling world of salt beyond the iodized curtain.
Mark Bitterman is a man truly possessed by salt. As “selmelier” at The Meadow, the internationally recognized artisan-product boutique, Bitterman explains the promise and allure of salt to thousands of visitors from across the country who flock to his showstopping collection. “Salt can be a revelation,” he urges, “no food is more potent, more nutritionally essential, more universal, or more ancient. No other food displays salt’s crystalline beauty, is as varied, or as storied.”

For culinary expert Michael Ruhlman, the ultimate goal in cooking is flavor, and for certain dishes nothing introduces it half as well as schmaltz. A staple ingredient in traditional Jewish cuisine, schmaltz (or rendered chicken fat), is at risk of disappearing from use due to modern dietary trends and misperceptions about this versatile and flavor-packed ingredient.
THE BOOK OF SCHMALTZ acts as a primer on schmaltz, taking a fresh look at traditional dishes like kugel, kishke, and kreplach, and also venturing into contemporary recipes that take advantage of the versatility of this marvelous fat. Potatoes cooked with schmaltz take on a crispness and satisfying flavor that vegetable oil can't produce. Meats and starches have a depth and complexity that set them apart from the same dishes prepared with olive oil or butter.
What's more, schmaltz provides a unique link to the past that ought to be preserved. "Schmaltz is like a thread that runs through a great tapestry," says Ruhlman's neighbor Lois, whose cooking inspired his own journey into the world of schmaltz. "It's a secret handshake among Jews who love to cook and eat."
