Out of the five basic senses, one is hearing, without which undoubtedly we won’t be living life to the fullest. The ears are incredible organs that allow a person to hear sounds; many times the organs are compared to radio dishes responsible for catching radio-waves and just like a radio-set, they too can sometimes become damaged.
One of the problems that can develop in the ears is tinnitus. Simply put, it is a condition in which the ear starts to listen to ringing, buzzing, and other meaningless noises. It is not dangerous nor a life-threatening condition, but with the passage of time the person will not get used to it but rather get annoyed by it. Moreover, untreated cases can cause damage to cognitive ability and increase restlessness in a person, turning his/her life into misery.
Tinnitus can be improved through treatment, both artificially and naturally. This book deals with the natural treatment of tinnitus, through proper diet, to be exact. Furthermore, you will get to know about the mechanism behind hearing, the types of tinnitus, how it gets diagnosed, and much more.
Stay tuned and keep reading.

The Gold of the Incas
The Gold of the Incas
It was well over 5000 years ago when, high in the Andes Mountains, the Incas discovered and subsequently started to cultivate the warrior grainnow known as Quinoa. Quinoa was extensively used in Incan culture and was known as the warrior grain by the indigenous people due to its stamina and power boosting properties. The performance enhancing secrets of Quinoa were buried by the Spanish conquistadors when they arrived in South America and destroyed fields of quinoa in order to annihilate the Incans, but quinoa survived and continued to grow in the wild mountains of the Andes. It wasn’t until the 1980s, that two Americans stumbled over this ancient, super-nutritious food and began its cultivation in Colorado. Soon its popularity erupted and now quinoa is the subject of many food researchers along with natural medical practitioners. Its rejuvenating properties have been acknowledged by many and now are being used as much as possible. Apart from being refreshing, quinoa has shown the potential of being the curer of high-magnitude diseases like cancers, infections and neurological disorders.

Health Benefits of Avocado
The Pear Shaped Fruit
You might have heard the name “Avocado” a thousand times and wonder what it is. Well for starters, avocado is a fruit that is pear shaped in appearance. If you’re into fruits and veggies and believe in natural ways of living an ailment free life, then this book is all you need. Even if you don’t like fruits, you should still know about this one. In our daily life we give value to things that are ready to eat or things that we can eat on the go. No wonder diseases like heart attack, high blood pressure, arthritis and obesity are so common in western lifestyle. Yes, I called obesity a disease. To you obesity might only mean having socially unacceptable outlook, but medicine people would tell you that obesity is the harbinger of countless diseases. The cure and control of all these things comes with one single fruit. Yes, you guessed it right. It’s avocado that promises you not only a healthy outlook but also a healthy inside too. Above all, the taste of this fruit is something that would surely tickle your taste buds.
This book has been divided into four sections. The first section will inform you about avocado and tell you what it is, its history and its nutritional value. In the United States alone, about 1 in 3 adults suffer from high blood pressure, every year. The condition usually comes without any signs or warnings and a person can be prone to it for years without even knowing about its presence. But, its apparent invisibility does not mean that it sits quietly within one’s body; while a person is unaware of it, it wreaks havoc within one’s body and damages multiple organs.
Blood pressure, as will be explained in great detail later,is the force that the blood applies on the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps blood in the body. The pressure by which the blood flows can rise or fall, but if it remains high for a long period of time it can start damaging the body. The condition is loosely known as High Blood Pressure.
Knowing your blood pressure numbers is vital, as well as, necessary even if you feel nothing’s going wrong. If your blood pressure is normal, no need to worry, but if it is reaching an abnormal level, you may require treatment.

Chapter 4 – Simple HIIT Workouts
So, you’ve tried out various workouts, weight loss programs, and gym rituals and things are working out all right, but you’re not seeing results that satisfy you completely.
That’s exactly where a HIIT workout can help you.
Cast aside the belief that a jog or brisk walk is a good enough daily dose of exercise for you, because sure, they help, but if you want to see real and sustained positive change with your body, a toned physique, and a slender figure, you need to step up the game to a whole new level.
The most fundamental problem when it comes to weight loss, working out, and seeing positive change in our bodies, is that we often doubt ourselves. We hesitate or give up too early before we are able to notice the benefits that exercise can have on our lives.
You see, exercise isn’t just about shaping your body. It’s a workout that affects your physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing. Without regular exercise and without looking after our physical health, we may as well kiss all other forms of health goodbye.
Exercise is proven to be a truly powerful force in terms of fighting off the symptoms and onset of depression. Working out can have this beneficial effect on your brain by encouraging the release of serotonin, a chemical that can lift our mood and feelings of self-appreciation and confidence. It is this chemical that forms the basis of our self-esteem.
Regular exercise and working out thoroughly, on a daily basis, will not only whip your body into shape and mold fatty tissue into lean muscle, but it also reduces your risk of developing a manner of nasty health problems in the future.
You’re probably already aware of the growing obesity and heart disease crisis. The simple fact is that both of these health complications can be fought off with the successful and determined implementation of regular exercise and fitness training.
With HIIT workouts in particular, your heart and circulatory system are given a real run for their money. You will be strengthening your vital organ and improving your heart’s ability to cope with stress and pressure – both in a physical and emotional sense.
Now of course, working through a HIIT workout isn’t a walk in the park. It takes real strength, persistence, and resilience and is certainly not for the faint hearted.
If you’re up for a real challenge, in terms of fitness and working out, then you’re certainly in the right place.
This book will provide a guide that walks through the basics of what a HIIT workout is, the benefits in terms of physical and mental health, the risks and precautions, and a number of helpful tips when undergoing a HIIT workout. Chapter 6: Conclusion
A shelter, shade, or house has been a source of protection and comfort for human kind ever since it first realized the benefits of being under a shelter. In many fronts, a shelter is a very fundamental need of living creatures and it has a psychological and emotional importance and value along with physical and material. Men started building shelters in the earliest times of their existence and since then have been developing the most modern and evolutionary methods of building homes with developing and evolving mental models along with advanced technology.
When in the wilderness, shelter is home, a base point to rest, and protection from rain, snow, cold, wild animals, storms, thunders, and sliding lands. Shelter is an unparalleled source of comfort whether you are out in a jungle for an adventure trip or trapped with your friends in an island full of palms and coconuts. Since the primitive ages, creation of shade and formation of a base area to fall upon has been a human norm. The idea of creating a home has nurtured since the beginning of human times on earth, as it was inculcated in man by nature. Creating shelter in the emergency situation can even avoid life threatening situations and provide a point from where the navigation and communication can become easy. Being in possession of the ability and skill set to build a water proof safe shelter is a blessing and drastically increaseschances of survival until aid is received. Creating a shade cannot only help protect you from unkind circumstances and adverse situations, but also benefit others who are accompanying you.
Temporary arrangements can also be made by nature if you feel lethargic or have drained yourself with all day tracking. Caves, pits, snow, and dense woods can be your best partners as natural and dependable shelters in cases where building material is not easily available or has been out of reach. However, such lucky opportunities and not available commonly and that is where people like me start writing such kinds of books. Shelter making is knowledge and an art that we shall discuss in detail through the help of this book. We will explain in detail different ways to create and protect shelters and the material required to accomplish this apparently challenging task.
Location of shelter is very important; you would not want to lie down next to a snake hole. Select an area to build shelter where you can get ample space to lie down flat, comfortably, without apprehensions. Shelter should be developed near the source of building material and water and away from sliding stones, pooling water, and insects. Make your shelter sufficient in size to fit you inside. It should not be very big since it will take more time, material, and effort to construct and should not be so small so that you would need to squeeze yourself to fit in. The best way is to lie down flat and measure your height with the help of a stick or just take a rough measurement with your hands after marking ground from head to toes. Start building your shelter accordingly once you have a good wilderness judgment of your height. A luxury sized shelter is also not advisable because more vacant space inside will not conserve heat and you may feel cold. An effective adventure shade, which is fit enough, will also conserve body heat and would not allow cold to come inside.

Who doesn’t love the idea of having sweet, juicy, vigorous and vitamin C-packed oranges for breakfast? Athletes eat it whenever they need a quick, natural shot of energy and most of the population enjoys them just for their flavor, not knowing about their health benefits. And this is exactly why this book must be read by all; almost everyone known oranges contain vitamin C but there aren’t many people who know what comes as a result of it. Better yet, there are many other nutrients and health promoting compounds present in oranges that have far-fetched effects on the human body that would drastically increase the daily intake of oranges by the common populace, if found out. But everything needs to be built from the bottom-up and this is exactly what will be done in the forthcoming chapters.
Oranges are spherical fruits belonging to the citrus species consisting of two major types: sweet and bitter. The sweet orange is the one that is generally consumed and is known by its scientific name as Citrus Sinensis whereas the bitter orange is known as Citrus Aurantium. Popular variations of the sweet orange include Navel, Jaffa, Valencia and Blood-oranges which are a hybrid species, more aromatic in flavor, smaller in size and with red hues throughout their flesh. Most people do not get into the classification and to refer to the sweet orange as simply orange. The orange tree is a multi-seasonal, flowering tree growing to a height of 9-10 m; some species have been reported to grow as long as 15 m. Its oval leaves are 4-10 cm long and are alternatively arranged throughout the stem. The bottom of the tree, including the trunk and roots is called rootstick while the fruit bearing part of the tree is known as scion. Almost every variety of sweet oranges contains 10 segments (carpels) and six seeds. The orange fruit has a green color when it is unripe and upon reaching ripeness turns orange to yellow-orange.
The word orange is derived from the Sanskrit word for “orange tree”; the Sanskrit reached the European continent after going through Persian and Arabic derivations. Oranges are believed to be originated thousands of years ago in the Asian region ranging from South of China to Indonesia. Oranges were not cultivated in the Middle Eastern region till the 9th Century and it wasn’t until the 15th Century that they made into Europe, thanks to ethnic groups like Moors and traders like the Portuguese and Italians who voyaged to Asia. From Europe, oranges found their way into the Caribbean islands in the late 15th Century when Christopher Columbus brought the seeds on his voyage to the New World. Spanish explorers brought oranges to Florida & California in the 16th and 18th Century respectively. Currently, some of the largest producers of oranges include Brazil, USA and China with each country producing 18, 8 and 6.5 million tones of oranges annually making orange trees the most cultivated trees in the world.
Coming to the health-promoting side of oranges, it should be known that an orange has over 170 different healthy phytochemicals and more than 60 flavonoids, almost all of which act as strong anti-oxidants & anti-inflammatory bodies. Looking at these qualities it wouldn’t be wrong to relate oranges with the proverb, “an apple a day”! There are countless reasons why oranges fit this, they promote

Life as we know it is quite simple. We all have an organized structure in which we live in, and all our necessities are nearby. Humans require water and food, above all other commodities and necessities, to survive and in our natural habitat we do not worry about the provision of these items. A simple visit to the grocery store serves all our requirements.
But, our job here is not to tell you the things you already know, but to prepare you for any hurdle that may come into this organized structure. Floods, earthquakes, or any other natural disaster may influence your life negatively and this book is all about helping you in picking the right food to survive in these circumstances. Panic is the first indication of losing it all. We want you to avoid that and the methodology is preplanning and awareness of disastrous situations.
In this book, we initiate by advising you about the importance of planning ahead so that you do not feel that you are spending too much just for emergency situations. Shop side by side each time you visit the grocery store. We explain what you need and the shelf lives of the most important high quality survival foods. As we know it is human nature to make mistakes, we also advise you on how you may avoid the key ones in our section of what not to store.
Lastly, we tend to the people stuck in the wilderness and give them key points on the identification of safe plants to eat and the gold universal edibility test. This book aims to educate you in choosing the best survival foods and storage instructions to protect you from adverse scenarios.

Disaster can strike at any given moment – whether you live in close proximity to natural hazards such as an earthquake zone or active volcano, or whether you live in a seemingly safe urban area. Your geographical location is a major factor when considering the different ways that you may be exposed to dangers, however this is an issue that has the potential to affect you at home, on holiday, or even when you’re visiting a new area. In such situations, it may be difficult to reach the emergency services or contact someone that may be able to help you – you could find yourself isolated from human settlement and left to your instinctive devices.
The basics to survival medicine are often overlooked and cast aside when it comes to common knowledge. How many of us could use indigenous plants as an antiseptic? How many of us could bind a wound using natural dressings? These are key skills that we have no use for in our everyday lives and of course, we can always use a helpful app or the internet to help us, right? But, what could we do in situations when those luxuries are out of reach and the only tools we have is the environment around us?
This guide will cover the essential basics in survival medicine, giving you a basic knowledge and understanding of how to cope with injuries in such distressing situations. From the contents of your survival pack to using potentially life-saving plants and applying emergency techniques – this guide will help you to build up a solid foundation. If you ever find yourself injured in a disaster situation, you’ll know where to begin.

Your body does not retain its original quality in terms of shape, strength, flexibility, etc. as you age. With the passage of time, the body loses its original properties and weakens; the heart pumps blood at a slower pace, the bones become more brittle, the veins become worn out and so on. In order to maintain the body in its healthy state, a planned physical routine is necessary. Just because you’re aged 50 plus, doesn’t mean the time to take care of your body has ended. On the contrary, the time has just come. It is very vital for senior individuals to take care of their body right from the start, to ensure longevity and a comfortable adult life. In a study by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, it was found that over 85% of US Adults don’t exercise in any regular way, which can cause an increase in the risk of serious cardiovascular, structural, and immune diseases. The book will provide comprehensive support to every adult citizen looking to rid himself of common yet irritating conditions caused by aging. The benefits are basically divided into two categories:
Both will be explained up to great satisfaction in the book, after which the reader will be taken through a number of types of exercises through which he/she can benefit. All in all, your life is about to change, so get ready!
Every month, half a million visitors download The Fat-Burning Man Show, eager to learn the secret of Abel James’s incredible weight-loss success. Growing up on a defunct farm in the backwoods of New Hampshire, Abel had easy access to a host of natural foods that a backyard garden could provide: eggs, fresh produce, and real butter. But as he got older, he started eating a "modern diet" of processed foods, and by his early twenties, Abel found himself with high blood pressure, insomnia, acne, digestive problems, and love handles. Following the typical dieting advice of “eat less, exercise more,” and despite running thirty miles a week and nibbling tasteless, low-fat, low-calorie food, his health only worsened as his waistline expanded.
In an effort to gain control of his health, Abel dug deep into nutrition research and discovered that everything he’d been told about low-calorie eating was wrong. He realized that our bodies are wired to eat luxuriously—and burn fat—as long as we’re eating real, natural foods that are grown on a farm and not in a factory. Incredibly, after just a few days of eating a Paleo-inspired diet of the most delicious "wild" foods that were rich in fat and fiber, Abel’s health problems began to disappear. And after forty days—and radically cutting back his exercise routine—he had lost twenty pounds.
The Wild Diet is the book Abel’s hundreds of thousands of fans have been clamoring for. At a time when our collective health is failing, Abel sounds a clarion call to announce that good health doesn’t live in a pill, exercise program, or soul-crushing diet. The secret is simply getting back to our wild roots and eating the way we have for centuries.

Since the season of scientific researches in the 20th Century, the popularity of oats has been on the rise and they are gaining ever increasing respect in the scientific community as a nutritious diet. Oats are steadily but surely gaining over the breakfast market and each day a great number of people make the switch in search of the perfect breakfast. No doubt, all those cereal commercials hailing oats have a major hand in making people switch to oats too, but if it weren’t for its mammoth-like health benefits, oats would never have had a chance to remain in the market.
But before diving straight into the specifics and health benefits of oats it would better to give a basic overview of oats and explain how they became one of the greatest grains on the planet.
The infamous oat, known in the scientific world as Avena Sativa, is a grain obtained from a cereal plan, grown for its seeds. The seeds interestingly are also known as oats and are the part of the plant that is mainly consumed; like many other grains, oats grow on stalks with their kernels distributed along a partial tree-like structure. After being harvested, the grains have their tough hulls removed before they can be made available into the market, either as whole or in milled formed.
When it comes to cultivation, oats are one of those plants that are able to withstand poor growing conditions; this is one of the reasons they were cultivated in Europe. Still, the best climate for growing oats is considered to be temperate. Their lower heat requirement during the summers and significant tolerance to wet weather makes them more compatible to variable regions than grains like wheat, barley and rye. On top of this, oats are an annual crop, meaning they can be planted in the autumn for a late summer harvest or during the spring for an early autumn harvest. The resilience & compatibility of oats can be judged by the fact that out of the total world oat produce for 2013, i.e. 21 million tons, Russia and Canada took the top spots with approximately 4 million and 3 million tons of oats respectively.
The modern oats are descendants of the wild ret oat, a plant that originated from within Asia. Oats have been in cultivation in various regions of the world for over 2000 years. Before oats were consumed as a food item, they were being used for their medicinal properties, a use which is now again gaining momentum. The cultivation of oats in Europe is widespread and historically, oat was an important commercial crop for the people of Scotland, Germany, Great Britain and Scandinavian countries.

Chapter 6 - Minimising Water Loss
Nothing, I repeat nothing, is more important than water for humans to live on this planet (well excluding oxygen though that’s obvious). Your body is made up of around 60-80% water and you cannot hope to continue performing your daily chores with the same efficiency if you don’t find enough water. Certainly the amount of usage of water varies depending upon the climate and activities you are involved in, but its presence is always required.
In a moderate climate with low levels of activity, approximately 2 liters of water is required daily for a 160 lb person. Certainly when the climate changes or the level of activity turns to exercise, you need to increase this amount simultaneously. The first sign of dehydration may be discerned through the color of the urine. A normal hydrated body produces a pale yellow color, but a dehydrated body produces urine that is darker in color. To make sure that the body doesn’t dehydrate you need to not only meet the required quantity of water, but you also have to make sure that the water is clean.
The reason why you constantly need to drink water is because your body continuously releases liquids and you need to maintain those levels. The release of liquids from your body is in the form of urination, sweating, excretion, and respiration. The liquids are released so that the toxins can be removed from your body and proper hydration makes this happen along with redistributing the nutrients in the body. Water also provides the pathway for electrical impulses to travel through nerve and brain cells to activate the muscles. The brain in itself is made up of 80% water.
Find Your Balance. Simply.

Introduction: The ancient diet
In the search for the best diet, a theory was presented in the 1980s. The theory reminded humans of their ancestors and the healthy lives they used to live. It blamed the development of modern diseases on our present imperfect diet which it considers a recent innovation as compared to what our bodies have been adapting to, for the major part of history. It says that if we eat the diet of our ancestors, we will return to that healthy state and the diseases of our present time will fade away into non-existence. This is the concept behind paleo diet.
Paleo diet, a modern adaptation of the supposed diet of our ancestors, is claimed to be the solution to the dietary hazards of our time. Can it really provide benefits over our present diet? Can it really be the solution of hazardous diseases that have plagued the modern society? This book discusses the advantages of paleo diet over modern diet relevant to the cure of diseases and assumes the position that indeed, paleo diet can be the solution for the major diseases of our age.

How to dry gooseberries?
Playing gooseberry may be an aphorism to describe an unwanted person, who is not needed in a self-contained and self absorbed group of two, but in reality, the common gooseberry is one of the most precious, wanted and valuable of natural plants.
Gooseberry shrubs can be found all over the world, where the climate has plenty of sun, and the humidity content in the air is high. Native American gooseberries are larger than their Asian counterparts.
Not only is this an excellent medicinal plant, but it is also well-known for its beautifying qualities. In fact, the ancient sages in the East. Make sure that they had plenty of gooseberries, in their daily diet, because they considered this fruit to be the reason for their longevity, everlasting good health, and youthful looks.
The ancients called this the gift of the gods, and thought that the gods had given the gooseberry to man because even though they could not give him immortality, they could give him longevity in the shape of gooseberries. That is because Indian myth says that this plant grew from a few drops of nectar, dropping on the earth by the gods taking the treasures of the sea, to the heavens. These treasures were obtained by churning the seas by the gods and the demons. Out of them, the nectar of immortality was one.
Gooseberries, also known as Emblica officianalis have long been a religious, and political symbol in India and China. This is the reason why, in ancient Indian history, myth and religious tradition, giving a gooseberry to somebody who you honored and revered was considered to be the prerogative of Kings. The Hindus worship the gooseberry tree, because they consider Lord Vishnu to live in this plant.
Living in South India as a child, I consider myself to have been brought upon gooseberries, because that was what we used to gnaw at school, and best friends used to share their “nellikas” among themselves. Hiding your own supply of gooseberries was considered the height of selfishness and treachery among friends. These gooseberries were of course “purloined” from the gooseberry trees, growing in particularly targeted gardens. It is a wonder how we managed to digest those raw gooseberries, along with raw guavas. And all of us had the lyrics of a very popular song of the time down pat, of which the chorus was – Nellikai amma illi baa [lit – gooseberry lady, come here…] We enjoyed the extremely sour taste of gooseberries, when we did not have tamarinds around. And that is why, whenever we had some time to spare, we would be hitting the branches of the deciduous gooseberry tree with a long stick in order to make the gooseberries fall.

Vegetables are such an integral part of our daily lives, that we really do not bother much about their natural benefits and value. All we know is that they are those greens which we had to eat when we were children, because mommy said so, and she was bigger than us. And she was not a good cook. And also, she made every vegetable dish taste so boring, so blah and so bland, that one promised oneself that one would never eat it, when one grew up.
That is the reason why so many of us grow up with an anti-vegetable subconscious feeling. But did you know that these green and leafy vegetables are the reasons why you kept so healthy, so energetic, and so bouncing when you were a kid. They were the natural mineral resources, which provided you with vitamins, minerals, and other essential nutrients, which help your muscles grow healthy, your skin glow and made you look so bright eyed and bushy tailed.
And then you grew up and stopped eating vegetables. Instead, you began eating and other high-protein diet, without any greens or yellows or reds , which were harvested from plants/vines/herbs or shrubs. And that made your body deficient in all the essential vitamins. It also made you less healthy than what you were when you were a kid. And you did not get to know it.
So here are some good reasons why you should eat plant produce, especially when they are green and leafy.
Fibrous, leafy and green vegetables, fresh from the farm are, of course, the pride and joy of every health conscious and proud cook. If the proportions of these vegetables are increased in your daily diet, you are going to lessen your intake of carbohydrates, starch, and grain. This is going to benefit you and the general state of your health in the long run. It also means that you will never suffer from constipation.
Nothing can take the place of cereals and grains in your daily diet in the same manner, vegetables have their own invaluable and irreplaceable place in the diet groups which make up your daily meals.
The benefits of vegetables eaten raw, or cooked, then means that you are going to have a tasty meal, with natural digestive products being added to your system. Your blood circulation is going to get invigorated and your digestive system is going to get rid of any small ailments brought about by eating a starchy, fatty and high-protein high carbohydrate diet.
Vegetables are amazing toxin eliminators. So if you are thinking of detoxifying your body with any star – endorsed detoxifying products, think again. Try increasing the amounts of vegetables in your diet.
The best thing about fibrous vegetables is that it adds the amount of bulk to the fecal material so that it can be eliminated during the regular bowel movements every day. This keeps your system healthy. It also keeps your skin glowing, and you energetic. That is because there are no toxins accumulating in your body and weakening your system.

Try our diet and get leaner; try our diet and you’ll lose 10 pounds in a week, try our diet and you’ll never have to do cardio again; and the list goes on and on. In today’s world dieting has become more of a business than a way to benefit people’s lives. There are hundreds of diets out there and dozens making their way into the market, all cleverly advertised to target the core weakness of every consumer: A promise to make your life better. This is largely a hollow promise but still ‘health corporations’ succeed in trapping hundreds of thousands of people.
So the question arises what is so special about the Paleo diet that makes it worth trying? For starters, the Paleo diet isn’t a new thing; it wasn’t created a few years or decades ago by some professor in a testing lab. The Paleo diet was a result of humans’ fight for survival, it was what our ancestors used to eat 10,000 years ago; right around the time when there were no grocery stores, super markets and fast-food. Eating wasn’t something to do in free time; to eat one had to search for his/her food, hunt it down and cook it in/on whatever was available. Thus, Paleo is not just a diet it’s a lifestyle, one which will truly make your life healthier.
The Paleo diet was just revived and popularized in the 70s by a Gastroenterologist Walter L. Voegtlin. This led to one research paper after another, one book after another being published by several doctors and nutritionists. By the 90s the Paleo diet had made its mark on the dieting market and had started to shape the dieting landscape. Practitioners started to create derivatives of the diet, synthesizing the pure Paleo meals by adding extra ‘ingredients’. In this book, I will only be using pure Paleo meals as a guide to a ‘better life’. This book is written keeping in mind the physical side of a healthier lifestyle. You’ll see how athletes can benefit from the Paleo diet; be it swimmers, wrestlers, runners, or players of any game. The claims will be backed by scientific evidence and you’ll see progress within weeks.

Most of us may have heard the name of an indigenous plant found in the East, – Neem. This is the local name for a plant called Margosa-the Indian Neem. Its scientific name is Azadirachta indica.
This is a long living tree, which has come down in Indian mythology as one of the gifts of the gods, given to the people of Jambudwipa- the prehistoric and historic name of the area which consisted of the Indian subcontinent. That is the reason why this plant is worshipped in many ancient traditional rituals of some religious sects in India.
Neem twigs are used as a toothbrush, even today. You break off a twig, chew it to keep your teeth healthy and then brush your teeth with this chewed portion. It is definitely bitter in taste, but you never will ever have to visit a dentist.
No Indian garden is considered to be complete without a Neem tree growing. The idea is that the grandfather is going to plant the Neem tree, and the future generations up to the seventh generation are going to derive benefit of this plant. That is why the first thing one does when one buys a new house is plant a Neem tree and then plant some other fruit trees like mangoes and lemons.
The Neem tree used to grow wild, but it is now cultivated extensively throughout the land. It is estimated that there are about 138 million Neem trees cultivated by farmers in Neem plantations throughout India. We are not talking about the ones which grow completely wild in the forests and in the woods or in your gardens.
There has been a long mythological history of the Neem, coming down the ages. Let me give you one example. The Neem grown on the outskirts of the village, would be worshipped by ancient villagers, who wanted the friendly spirits living on the Neem to grant them their wishes. That is why, they often fed the Neem with milk or buried copper coins underneath the Neem tree. I do not know who took advantage of the buried coins, but I saw this pattern being followed as an adult, when people got to know about the only Neem tree, in the locality, which happened to have been planted by my grandfather four decades earlier.

Imagine yourself travelling back in time - far back. When you open your eyes, you are sitting on a small rock, about 10,000 years ago. The paleolithic era of history is almost at its end. Birds are flying around. There are trees and animals everywhere you look. The air is clean and so nice to breathe in. A cool wind is
blowing through your face. Suddenly you feel hungry and you know that it’s time to eat. You call some of your fellow tribe members. Spears are brought out and after some chasing and running you all hunt down a bison. You take out meat from the bison’s body and roast it on fire. Then someone brings in some natural herbs and berries from nearby and thus, a delicious well-balanced meal is served and everyone gets his share. Tired as everyone is after the hunt, everyone sits down to eat.

What is Paleo Diet?
Basically, Paleo diet is a fancy word for caveman diet; it’s what our ancestors used to consume tens of thousands of years ago when hunting was the only way to acquire food. The fundamental concepts behind the Paleo diet boil down to the genetic level. Simply put, our DNA has not significantly changed over the past 40 thousand years, and therefore, our bodies have not yet fully reformed to the contemporary, highly processed and artificial food items that are available in abundance nowadays. Thus the Paleo style of eating is the most biologically appropriate diet for us.
What can I eat?
Paleo diet includes anything that can be hunted or gathered. Clearly, hunting is not an option to acquire food nowadays but you can still obtain it from a supermarket, if of course the food was readily available during the Paleolithic period. Paleo diet includes and is not limited to meat, fish, vegetables, eggs, shellfish, tree nuts, roots, fruits, coconut palm sugar and raw honey. Dairy, potatoes, processed oils, grains, legumes and sugars are to be avoided, along with salt and any drinks except water, coconut water and green tea. The diet of course eliminates any processed and ready made foods available today and is gluten free, largely due to the exclusion of grains.
Clear away any preconceptions you have about raw food. Rawlicious is the perfect primer for anyone who is considering increasing their raw food intake--from contemplators to full-out converts. Rawlicious is a beautifully photographed cookbook and an appealing introduction to raw food, including recipes, straightforward advice and a 5-day diet challenge. Crawford and Clark offer up over 100 raw recipes--that are also vegan and gluten free--straight from the Rawlicious kitchens in full colour, with step-by-step instructions.
