Vorschule Im Klavierspiel, Op. 101, by Ferdinand Beyer (1803--1863) was first published in 1860. Since that time, it has been used by piano students throughout the world, especially in Asian countries. When compared with piano methods written in the 20th and 21st centuries, it appears more like a technique book than a piano method. This edition has been edited to be useful for today's piano students, either as a method (with teacher guidance) or as a supplementary book.
The motivation this music provides is outstanding! Playing duets is important to the musical growth of young pianists. And with Alfred's Top Hits Duet Books, students get twice as many benefits. In addition to learning how to develop steady rhythm, listen for proper balance, and play with appropriate dynamics, students will also receive the enjoyment of playing specially arranged duets of pop music.
These duet collections are correlated page-by-page with lesson Books 1B, 2, 3 and 4 of Alfred's Basic Piano Library one of the best-selling piano methods in the world (it's translated into 13 languages).
All four duet books feature the best-known popular songs from films, Broadway musicals and best-selling CDs. The arrangers selected for this series include Alfred's best-known composers including Dennis Alexander, Tom Gerou, Margaret Goldston, Martha Mier, Catherine Rollin and George Peter Tingley.

Melodies to sing, using either solfege or letter names, help students learn to match pitch and discover tonal elements of music. Correlates to the Music Lesson Book 1. Familiar songs include If You're Happy and You Know It, Mexican Hat Dance and Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.

* The Chipmunk Song.
This collection of 40 piano duets (for one piano, four hands) is appropriate for pianists at the late elementary through intermediate levels. Duet repertoire from the 18th, 19th and early-20th centuries are included by such composers as Brahms, Bruckner, Cui, Diabelli, Foote, Godowsky, Haydn, Moscheles, Mozart, Ravel, Schubert, Spindler, Stravinsky, Türk and more. To facilitate reading, the primo and secondo parts are on separate pages. Essential ornamentation is realized in footnotes, both parts contain measure numbers for convenient reference and brief composer biographies are included.
This unique method was designed specifically for young students who are beginning piano study in a group setting. This easy-to-teach beginners course includes all of the most important components to develop comprehensive musicians and performers.
These first books in Alfred’s Lesson Enhancement Series introduce students to all major and minor five finger patterns in all 12 keys. The pentascales are divided into similar groups to promote ease in learning. Book 1 includes the Group 1 Keys (C, G, F major and minor) and the Group 2 Keys (D, A, E major and minor). Book 2 includes the Group 3 Keys (D-flat, A-flat, E-flat major and minor) and the Group 4 Keys (B-flat, B, G-flat or F-sharp major and minor). In each book, technical exercises are provided in each key with an interesting teacher accompaniment. A short solo is included for each key, in addition to an optional teacher duet accompaniment. Two or three of these solos can be grouped together for variety in performance.
Beautifully presented and intelligently paced, the Lesson Book combines unusually attractive music and lyrics. The book features note reading, rhythm reading, sight-reading and technical workouts. While most teachers find audio recordings very useful at the lesson and for home practice, others prefer not to use the audio. To accommodate all teachers, this version of Alfred's Premier Piano Course Lesson Book 2A does not have audio included.
Elgar E. Elephant and Pachelbel Penguin explore a Magical Music History Book and soon find themselves introducing Beethoven Bear and Mozart Mouse to classic themes, such as Trumpet Voluntary, Anvil Chorus, and Theme from Swan Lake----along with other new pieces that enhance the story line. Book 4 completes the Recital Book series in the Music for Little Mozarts collection.
The Music for Little Mozarts Recital Book 3 includes motivational music to reinforce performance concepts that are introduced in the Music Lesson Books. The book includes an all new story about Mozart Mouse and Nina Ballerina, as well as familiar music for performance.
In Alfred's Premier Piano Course Level 6, students develop their rhythm skills using mixed meter. A special focus is a stylistic introduction to the Romantic and Contemporary masterworks, as well as popular music. Additional pieces range from lyrical ballads and jazz styles to arrangements of familiar classic and folk themes. New concepts introduced include diminished triads, the ii-V7-I chord progression, and additional scales and keys.
Correlated page-for-page with the Lesson Book, each new musical concept is reinforced through fun-filled writing, listening and playing exercises. With games and puzzles added to compositional and creative activities, students retain concepts more easily and learn more thoroughly.
The 100 pieces (including individual sonatina movements) in this anthology provide a valuable resource for pianists and piano teachers as well as piano pedagogy faculty and students. The literature ranges from late elementary to intermediate levels of difficulty. Repertoire was chosen from all style periods and each piece includes suggestions for fingering and pedaling. All selections are in their original form (no arrangements, simplifications, or other adaptations).
Play Piano Now! is for busy adults whose practice time is limited, and for adults without previous musical training. It is a slower-paced method that uses the same conceptual core of our original Adult Piano Course, but with several very important added features: more gradual introduction of music fundamentals, more pages of reinforcement and a greater emphasis on sight-reading exercises, one of the most important skills needed to ensure long-term enjoyment of the piano. Includes specially marked written exercises that can be completed away from the keyboard.
Play waltzes, gavottes, marches and dances from throughout the world. This collection includes a variety of repertoire. Your students will improve in musicianship, ensemble performance, fingering and rhythmic control while enjoying this delightful duet literature. Whether student/teacher or student/student, duets can supplement any young pianist's learning as they have fun "making music" with a partner.
