She was hired to clean up his image. He wants nothing more than to get her dirty.
Watching sex tapes at the office is just part of PR professional Vivian Blake's job, especially when she has to clean up a celebrity's image. Except that her newest client isn't quite that easy. Racecar driver Jarod Cage is beyond hot, and his onscreen "performance" is already compromising Viv's cool professionalism.
While Jarod hasn't exactly been discreet about his personal life, he never thought his reputation could cost him both his sponsor and his racing career. Now he has to put his future in the hands of a tiny, pixie-like publicist. Which is becoming a problem, because the heat between them is about to redline. But when you go this hard and fast, putting on the brakes is the most dangerous thing you can do...
Derek Sawyer, sexiest bad boy on the racing circuit, is about to land a huge sponsor. The only problem is the oil baron’s daughter wants to make Derek part of the deal. Worried he’ll offend the old billionaire if he rejects his daughter, Derek comes up with the perfect plan—pretend he’s already engaged to his friend Lilly.
Lilly Harmon used to daydream about her childhood crush Derek proposing to her...but not like this. Since she just lost her boyfriend and her job, and her five-year plan is drastically off track, playing pretend with Derek just might be the perfect distraction from her life
Money. Family. Love. The truth could destroy everything. And to think this engagement was supposed to be the easy way out...
First, that Ed leaked information to the CIA about the radical nature of the car’s technology, leading to the intervention of the U.S. and Russian governments, and indirectly to the murders in Siberia.
Second, that Ed’s irresponsible actions during the race were the reasons that the environmentallyfriendly technology in his entry has not been made available to the world and that he is to blame for some of the climatic change that will take place in the future.
Third, that Ed was lying about the innovation in the car. It was actually nothing new, and was, in fact, fully developed in Nazi Germany during World War II, and then held off the market by oil interests.
Finally, that his secret liaison with his navigator showed a reckless disregard for his wife and young daughter and affected his judgment.
While these accusations appeared to be absurd, we knew we had to sort out Thurman’s wild claims before we could write an objective report of the around-the-world race. We discovered that there was some truth among these charges; a story hidden within a story. We became intrigued with our findings. It turned out that the race was a minor part of the challenges Ed faced. Our research had turned up a convoluted love story that alone would have made it difficult for Ed to have followed a different course of action. You can decide for yourself whether a less disastrous outcome would have been possible if he had made different decisions.
