"The schoolgirl is the main driver of Japan's Gross National Cool, and Brian Ashcraft's book is the best source for those hoping to understand why." —Chris Baker, WIRED Magazine

Japanese Schoolgirl Confidential takes you beyond the realm of everyday girls to the world of the iconic Japanese schoolgirl craze that is sweeping the globe.

For years, Japanese schoolgirls have appeared in hugely-popular anime and manga series such as Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and Blood: The Last Vampire. These girls are literally showing up everywhere—in movies, magazines, video games, advertising, and music. WIRED Magazine has kept an eye on the trends emerging from these stylish teens, following kick-ass schoolgirl characters in videogames like Street Fighter and assassin schoolgirls in movies like Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill.

By talking to Japanese women, including former and current J-Pop idols, well-known actresses, models, writers, and artists—along with famous Japanese film directors, historians and marketers—authors Brian Ashcraft and Shoko Ueda (who have both contributed to WIRED's "Japanese Schoolgirl Watch" columns) reveal the true story behind Japan's schoolgirl obsessions.

You'll learn the origins of the schoolgirls' unusual attire, and how they are becoming a global brand used to sell everything from kimchi to insurance. In Japanese Schoolgirl Confidential, you'll discover: Sailor-suited pop-idols Cult movie vixens Schoolgirl shopping power The latest uniform fashions
Japanese schoolgirls are a symbol of girl empowerment. Japanese Schoolgirl Confidential shows why they are so intensely cool. Don't miss this essential book on the Japanese youth culture craze that is driving today's pop culture worldwide.

"Whether your preferred schoolgirl is more the upstanding heroine Sailor Moon or the vengeful, weapon-wielding Gogo Yubari of Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill, Vol. 1, you'll come away well versed." —Publishers Weekly
Ever since the caliphate’s demise, Muslims have remained upon a path of ideological decline. From the depths of poverty to the brutality of war, we have passively endured the exogenous pain and suffering brought upon us for many years. Unable to realise the great significance of thought in resolving our metacognitive anaemia, economic recovery became a mere figment of our imagination and the caliphate, a glorious but obsolete history.

However, after decades in darkness the Muslims have become increasingly agitated by the depravity that pervades them. What started with dissent has now developed into a prodigious revolution across the Muslim world, characterised primarily by an overwhelming Islamic sentiment. At present, the caliphate is no longer perceived as a distant past but a near future, whose return has been made clear by Allah (ﷻ) in His promise to us:

“Allah has promised, to those among you who believe and work righteous deeds, that He will, of a surety, grant them in the land, inheritance (of power), as He granted it to those before them; that He will establish in authority their religion, the one which He has chosen for them; and that He will change (their state), after the fear in which they (lived), to one of security and peace: They will worship Me (alone) and not associate aught with Me.’ If any do reject faith after this, they are rebellious and wicked.” [TMQ 24:55]

Islam’s imminent arrival has necessitated a vital discourse, in which its ability to purge the Muslim world of its economic woes must be explicated. This book seeks to do just that by expanding upon the Islamic economic system (IES), through contemporary economic theory; introducing the subject of economics and the political economy, whilst highlighting key issues ingrained within the capitalist laissez-faire system.

Above all, it attempts to present Islam as a panacea to the maladies of capitalism by way of comparative economic analysis with the sole intent to extirpate (through revival) the ideological impotence that has plagued and obstructed our minds.

In doing so, it will enable the reader to discern which ideology is  more capable and efficient in solving key economic problems faced in our current reality.

Caste is a relic of dark ages. It did not evolve into a modernized version in the natural course of events as the people of India  were not the real custodians of Indian society, having been under foreign rule for many years and those rulers finding great use in caste. Other countries had their share of such customs which are even more shocking, like lynching or burning at stake, various entertainments of Roman Empire, all of which, evolved into something less obnoxious, as time went by.  There has never been a time in Indian history when someone of significance did not attempt in its eradication be it Buddha, Swami Vivekanada or the hordes of other leaders of later origin How come it still remains, causing trouble at will, though there is nobody who does not earnestly say that they want  to see its' demise. This book is trying to answer that by taking a unique approach the problem.

Describing the evolution of caste in a 'no nonsense' language and exhorting all the need to take urgent steps before it is too late, this book is an attempt to identify the exact reasons why caste has been readily accepted in India and continue to be so, regardless of the multitude of cultural, social and political changes over many a century. Although what is vogue is to consider caste as something imposed from above, sufficient reasons are given pointing to the contrary and explaining why people would have been in more or less consonance with this system. Differing with and offering alternatives to popular view, this book is bound to prod the readers into firing the best of their arsenal, either to oppose caste or to oppose him.

Are you getting sidetracked from your work as a result of distractions, worrying, wondering, and curiosity?Today, we do not just live in the information age, but in the "Distractions Age." There's so much going on around us, but our available time seems to shrink even more.

I decided to create this productivity report for a few reasons:

1. Busyness does not always mean productive work. You'll learn how to get "clean focus" and improve your concentration on your tasks in order to get them done, without procrastinating and postponing the important stuff. Moreover, you'll feel less busy and accomplish a lot more as a result.

2. Most people consider multitasking as a good strategy to get things done. Now, that's very disturbing to me, because I am going to show you how multitasking can HURT your productivity, and what you have to do instead (page 5).

3. Most business owners hesitate about opportunities and not taking proper action to get things done. I am going to show you how to battle this temptation and break free from the paralysis of fear and uncertainly that are causing inaction, doubts and procrastination.

A good analogy of this is when you go to swim on a public swimming pool. People who are about to jump in ALWAYS bother those who are already in the pool with the boring questions:

Is the water warm?
How deep is it?
Can I jump in?
What if I drown?

Just get in there and see for yourself! The vary same hesitation is causing people to neglect opportunities for achieving a better lifestyle in their business. You'll learn what you need to do to eliminate this hesitation and jump in the pool with other successful people. You become who you surround yourself with.

4. A lot of people react on things, based an emotional impulse. I am going to outline the difference between REACTION and RESPONSE (page 7). That's because if you can't distinguish the urgent from the important, you are less likely to achieve the result you want.

5. Most people confuse activity with productivity. If you understand the difference between both, you'll be able to focus and become dramatically more productive at your work (page 7)

6. Most of us have a lot that's going on in our heads. We can't clearly focus on things, because we have all those distracting thoughts while trying to work. I am going to show you a very powerful technique that's going to solve this problem once and for all (page 8).

Surprisingly enough, I've learned this from Bruce Lee. I do not know anything about martial arts in order to apply his principles. You'll see what I mean when you get to page 8 of this productivity report.

7. A lot of people today, with the invention of Facebook, Twitter, and other time wasters on the Internet, find a hard time to organize their time for work. Even if you have a lot of commitments, demands and obligations - you are always short on time to work and do what's important to you.

That's why in this productivity report, I am going to show you how to work more effectively, spending less time to work, and accomplishing a lot more as a result. (See page 10).

What does "Golden Nuggets" Edition mean? This productivity report is a result of a lot of research and study from various sources on time management and personal productivity. It contains powerful strategies on how to get more focused which took me literally YEARS to learn through trial and error.

Q&A with the author:

Question: What are the most common problems people encounter when it comes to applying for grants in your experience?

Answer: Most people do not pay attention to the grant guidelines- and their applications get thrown out or declined.

Question: Why most grant applications are declined?
Answer: People do not take the time to plan their programs or projects and that is very evident in the application- and especially the budget. Most nonprofits do not charge for their services. They are providing something that is needed in the community- therefore, they must seek funds to help pay for staffing, offices, materials- so they apply for grants. There are lots of different types of nonprofits and lots of different reasons nonprofits apply. People applying have to look at a grantor as a partner in their mission, and try to convince that partner to help them provide the needed service. That is the emotional part of the writing.

Japanese animation, video games, and manga have attracted fans around the world. The characters, the stories, and the sensibilities that come out of these cultural products are together called Japan Cool. This is not a sudden fad, but is rooted in manga—Japanese comics—which since the mid-1940s have developed in an exponential way. In spite of a gradual decline in readership, manga still commands over a third of the publishing output. The volume of manga works that is being produced and has been through history is enormous. There are manga publications that attract readers of all ages and genders. The diversity in content attracts readers well into adulthood. Surveys on reading practices have found that almost all Japanese people read manga or have done so at some point in their lives. The skills of reading manga are learned by readers themselves, but learned in the context of other readers and in tandem with school learning. Manga reading practices are sustained by the practices of other readers, and manga content therefore serves as a topic of conversation for both families and friends. Moreover, manga is one of the largest sources of content for media production in film, television, and video games. Manga literacy, the practices of the readers, the diversity of titles, and the sheer number of works provide the basis for the movement recognized as Japan Cool. Reading Japan Cool is directed at an audience of students of Japanese studies, discourse analysts, educators, parents, and manga readers.
