«أصبح غياب رشيد الشغل الشاغل لأهل الحي، بعد أن روت إحدى السيدات المسنّات التي لا تخطئ رؤيتها أبداً أنها رأته في المنام يلبس رداءً أخضر، ويغني بصوتٍ أنثوي، وفجأةً يمسك بالطار ويرقص في أرضٍ خراب حتى يستحيل نسراً ضخماً يحلق في الفضاء فارداً جناحيه وحاجباً قطرات الماء من أن تهطل على الحي، ثم يهبط على أسطح المنازل ويصيح بصوتٍ كالرعد: +++ ـ سأجعلها خراباً... سأجعلها خراباً. +++ وانتشر هذا الحلم بين أهالي الحي، فصدّقه الكثيرون حتى أن مؤذّن المسجد محمد اليوسفي صاح بالمصلّين عقب صلاة الظهر: +++ ـ ألا ترون... انظروا إلى السماء، فالغمام يعبرنا دون أن تحطّ قطرة واحدة على هاماتنا!»
