出生於台中市，成長於台北市，30歲回到台中，一直住在大肚山上。
台灣大學園藝系學士、園藝研究所造園組碩士，中興大學植物研究所博士。
任教於東海大學景觀學系已20餘年。
曾任教科目有景觀植物學、植栽設計、景觀設計與生態調查等。
課餘喜歡到處遊山玩水、觀賞大自然，並用相機紀錄，拍攝的照片無以計數。
