소리 작가는 6년간 유치원과 초등학생 돌봄 봉사를 이어오며, 아이들이 너무 일찍 경쟁과 성취의 압박을 겪는 현실을 가장 가까이에서 보았습니다. 어린 나이에 현실을 바쁘게 살아가는 아이들에게 소소하지만 큰 행복과 건강한 자아를 전하고자 그림책을 쓰기 시작하였습니다. 자연 속 작은 이야기를 빌려 마음을 어루만지는 글을 쓰며, 아이들에게는 희망과 배려를, 어른들에게는 잊고 있던 순수함을 전하는 동화를 만들어갑니다.
