It is 1066, and the battleground at Hastings has fallen quiet. The only sound that is heard over the murders of her surviving countrymen is the voice of her brother, “Run!”
Leaving her brothers on the battlefield, Lady Ash must find a way to survive while William holds them prisoner. For the first time in her life, she finds herself without the strong guidance of her brothers. Now Ash must stay one step ahead of the King while anticipating the day she can reunite with her family. Always a strong fighter, Ash is plunged into a world of violence and brutality for which she finds she is unprepared. Will her journey lead her back to her brothers, or into the hands of the King?
AUTHOR’S NOTE: This book includes graphic scenes of violence that depict a dark time in history. Historically, before he became King of England, William the Conqueror secured his duchy by gouging out the eyes and cutting off the hands and feet of his prisoners. He then catapulted them into the town of Alençon, whose barons were not accepting of him as a nobleman. This is a story of a family William seeks vengeance upon. Though this book and the full three-book series falls under the romance genre, this is not a typical romance of fairy tales and happily ever afters.
A.V. Arms started writing at a young age. Despite a career in journalism her passion has always been fiction. She is an award-winning journalist for her work at weekly newspapers, mainly for in-depth features. Her first novel, Shadows, won Finalist in the National Indie Excellence Awards.
