Der Band enthält Beiträge von Praktikern und Wissenschaftlern aus Ost und West, die mit medizinischer Kommunikation, insbesondere der Arzt-Patienten-Kommunikation, alltäglich oder in interdisziplinärer Weise befaßt sind. Praktische Anforderungen, ethische Probleme und Formen des sprachlichen Handelns zwischen Arzt oder Therapeut und Patient werden reflektiert und empirisch analysiert. Professor Dr. Angelika Redder ist Sprachwissenschaftlerin am Institut für Deutsch als Fremdsprache der Universität München. Ingrid Wiese ist Professorin für Sprachwissenschaft an der Universität Leipzig.
