The story seemed a little too sweet and a little too simple. The characters never felt real for me. It felt like they were created for a story, not that they created a story. But if you prefer short, simple reads that are written well, this would qualify.

The Perfect Debutante is book one in The Perfect Regency Series by Annabelle Anders. This book is well written. The author tackles the difficult topic of cutting. She does give a warning in the Foreword of the book about it. Although it is an awful habit, she handles this delicate topic with sensitivity. Louella Rose Redfield is a likable heroine. She is a complicated character with many layers, but once those layers are peeled back, a relatable woman is revealed. There are several steamy scenes, but Anders writes those masterfully. I look forward to the next book in this series.
