My mom loved this book, so I thought I'd give it a shot. It's not great. It isn't terrible, but it ends before it gets interesting. If you like a series of short stories about a tragically beautiful girl in a ship that sings (which she only does in the first chapter, by the by) then give it a read. I should have just gotten it from the library.

Anne Mccafery has and probably always will be one of my most favorite of altime scifi authours, to me its tragic shes gone and we shall no longer see new releases from her. This book opened my imagination to a new way of thinking, for all time. I love all the Ship Who Series and have read all of the ones I could get my hands on at least 20 or 30 times now. I urge you to give them a try.

I love this book. Helva is a human who's body is a space ship. She has an interesting life and really good adventures. It's one of my all time favorite books.

About the author

Anne McCaffrey, one of the world’s most popular authors, is best known for her Dragonriders of Pern® series. She was the first woman to win the two top prizes for science fiction writing, the Hugo and Nebula awards. She was also given the American Library Association’s Margaret A. Edwards Award for Lifetime Literary Achievement in Young Adult Fiction, was inducted into the Science Fiction Hall of Fame, and was named a Science Fiction Writers of America Grand Master. Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1926, McCaffrey relocated to Ireland in the 1970s, where she lived in a house of her own design, named Dragonhold-Underhill. She died in 2011.
