The emotionally aloof billionaire meets the financially struggling stripper using a fake profile on a dating site. The tug of war between will they or won't they allow themselves to fall in love begins. There aren't any real new ideas in this story, so it's rather formulaic. Some of the situations/imagery comes across as muddled & confusing. It's a quick read.

Michael runs a dating website, but refuses to risk his heart again so he keeps all dates casual. So casual, that he can't find a date to the Valentine's Day charity gala. He sets up a fake profile and is matched to Sophia by his own app, yet he's still amazed and thrilled to find that she's every bit the perfect match for him. Sophia is happy to play the part of a cherished Cinderella for one night, but when Michael's ex starts embarrassing him at the gala, Sophia jumps to his defense and makes things much more complicated by claiming she and Michael are engaged. They privately agree to keep up the ruse for one month, during which they get to know each other better and Michael starts to rethink his dating policies. But then Michael learns her secret, trust becomes an issue between them, and Sophia suffers a tragic loss that has her rethinking the cost of a relationship with Michael. To say that these two have a complicated relationship is a huge understatement, making their road to a HEA fraught with personal introspection and life-goal reevaluations. Their intimate scenes are quite steamy and there is quite a bit of humor (especially between Michael and his family) that make this an enjoyable read. There were a couple times I thought the main characters might have been over-reacting a bit, but it wasn't glaring enough to detract from the story. There's a lot to love in this book, and I heartily recommend it. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I enjoyed this book, but felt a bit like I was reading a Pretty Woman spin off. Michael is the wealthy businessman that doesn't trust women (or kiss on the lips), even since his fiance left him at the alter. Sophia is the stripper barely making ends meet. Michael's matchmaking site connects them and both are pleased. From there, pretty much all the best elements of Pretty Woman are woven into the story. Despite this, I still thoroughly enjoyed the book because of the author's way to telling the story. If you enjoy the genre, put this on your TBR list. It's a perfect read for a quiet afternoon or at the beach.
