My name is Mystic. I’m a private investigator-slash-bounty hunter in a world gone sick. Eight years ago, a swiftly moving parasitic virus turned eighty percent of the population into brain-dead, flesh-eating monsters. It was like any zombie movie you’ve ever seen, and then again, it wasn’t. With their food source threatened, vampires came out of the closet and established a shaky alliance with us surviving humans. Yeah right. Not in this lifetime, thank you very much. Before anyone ever knew vampires truly existed, I saw one murder my mother. I will never trust a vamp, let alone allow one to dine from my vein.
Now my boss expects me to team up with one to find some lost kids who’ve been kidnapped by their money-extorting mother. Christophe is as hot as a cherry pie baked in August, but a vamp is a vamp. Still, I need the perks that come with the job. So shoot me, I accepted the assignment. A girl’s gotta eat.
If I can only stick to the case without getting my jugular—or any other body parts—penetrated, I might come through this in one piece.
CEOs, Navy SEALs, FBI agents...
You won’t find them here. Instead, I write about the average Joe with his boy-next-door charm and his steak ‘cueing skills. The guy who takes out the trash—after you ask, who wears a shirt with a spot on it to lunch with your mother but then charms her socks off, who forgets to water your favorite house plant but then buys you flowers. You know and love this guy: the Rick Grimes’, the Stu Redmans, the Kyle Reeses of the world who, when faced with seemingly insurmountable odds, rise to the occasion and save you, the dog, and the day. Okay, so Kyle Reese died in the end, but my heroes do not!
You can read my books with my promise that only the bad guy will meet his deserved end in a bad way. Likewise, I do not write about anti-heroes. There are no Tony Sopranos, no Dexter Morgans, no Ray Donovans in my books. So find a comfy spot and pour yourself a glass of wine, cup of tea, or mug of hot chocolate, whatever suits your fancy, and read one of my books knowing you’ll find a hero you can fall in love with and a heroine you wish you could be.

Horribly scarred from painful injuries, Alastair Saville returned from the war a broken and lonely man, the last heir to an earldom he doesn’t want. The previous earl and his son, Alastair’s uncle and cousin, perished aboard a ship lost in the channel, but it is the wrongful death of Alastair’s beloved sister that sets his misery afire and makes him seethe for revenge.
Alastair kidnaps Victoria to prevent her marriage to Ellison Montgomery, heir to the Montgomery barony, whom he blames for his sister’s death. Alastair intends to bring the man to ruin through poverty and scandal, but once he has Victoria as his unwilling guest she ceases to serve as an anonymous tool in his quest for vengeance. She is vivacious, outspoken and alluring, and she brings light into Alastair’s shattered existence.
But Alastair is a dying man, and has only these last few days to enjoy her company as he dreams about life as a man whole, and what might have been.
The sickness came on suddenly, and spread quickly. The fear spread even faster. Within weeks, everything people counted on began to fail them. The electrical grid sputtered; law and government collapsed—and more than half of the world’s population was decimated.
Where there had been order, there was now chaos. And as the power of science and technology receded, magick rose up in its place. Some of it is good, like the witchcraft worked by Lana Bingham, practicing in the loft apartment she shares with her lover, Max. Some of it is unimaginably evil, and it can lurk anywhere, around a corner, in fetid tunnels beneath the river—or in the ones you know and love the most.
As word spreads that neither the immune nor the gifted are safe from the authorities who patrol the ravaged streets, and with nothing left to count on but each other, Lana and Max make their way out of a wrecked New York City. At the same time, other travelers are heading west too, into a new frontier. Chuck, a tech genius trying to hack his way through a world gone offline. Arlys, a journalist who has lost her audience but uses pen and paper to record the truth. Fred, her young colleague, possessed of burgeoning abilities and an optimism that seems out of place in this bleak landscape. And Rachel and Jonah, a resourceful doctor and a paramedic who fend off despair with their determination to keep a young mother and three infants in their care alive.
In a world of survivors where every stranger encountered could be either a savage or a savior, none of them knows exactly where they are heading, or why. But a purpose awaits them that will shape their lives and the lives of all those who remain.
The end has come. The beginning comes next.
