I was excited to start this book as it was my first by her featuring POC as the protagonists. unfortunately the story felt rushed. It jumped in so many places, leaving so many gaps in the character archs and story development. It was difficult to connect with the characters or understand their motives and how their emotions evolved. Basically the book needed to be longer. Perhaps this was a sample? I liked her other Harbour City books, but this one fell flat.
