About this ebook

A child lost in a world so alien to him that all he can do is find a warm place to curl up and wait to die. Darby sees the child climbing into a dumpster on a cold Chicago night. Darby always lived by three simple rules. After finding the boy his rules began to drop by the wayside. Over the period of the next few months Darby finds that not only his life but of that of the boy and his mother, along with his friends and associates have been changed dramatically. After that mayhem ensues as you are introduced to a virtual rouges gallery of cutthroats, thieves, and liars. A few good Samaritans and well-wishers are added and if thats not enough a surprise appearance by Mr. Johnny Cash is added for a bit of flavor. Can Darby rescue the boy and himself at the same time? Or will the forces of evil prevail? And can a man of the gun become a father and husband? This book is a work of fiction. Any resemblance of characters to persons living or dead is purely coincidental. But Im fairly sure you will recognize personalities of some characters similar in someone you know. I have also taken great liberty with locations. In the end this is a work of entertainment so I hope that you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed crafting it for you. Sincerely C. L. Moses

About the author

C.L. Moses came from humble beginnings. He was the fifth of eight children raised in rural Texas. He joined the military at age 17, and was able to travel to foreign countries that aided in the broadening of his knowledge of other cultures. After his discharge, he went somewhat rogue and tried different jobs from high-rise window cleaner to pool hall hustler all the while traveling the U.S. It was during these travels, while up North, he met his wife of 20+ years. They have since relocated back to the greater Dallas, TX area where they enjoy their time with their children and grandchildren (near and far), family and friends. C.L. was able to combine the experience of his travels along with his natural talent of telling tall tales to start writing, one of the things that he has always yearned to do. He is very pleased to be able to present to you, the reader, his story of ‘Darby’ with many more stories in the making.
