Carl Ottersen the author of six books: three on travel, one a photo-essay, the fifth a portrait of children in Jakarta and the sixth on business. His photographs and articles have been published in several travel magazines; many are also used in travel websites.
Currently he is writing and curating a series of digital books (eBooks) called “Great Guides”, with detailed information on places to see and things to do in interesting regions of the world. These ebooks are full of photos, videos and interactive maps.
This book is a photo essay of places and people I have seen and met while walking around Jakarta in the course of my time living here. My intent is simple: I want to encourage you to discover these facets of life in Jakarta also.

ISCO, the Indonesian Street Children Organization, was founded in 1999 to bring education to the children of the poor and disadvantaged in Jakarta, Indonesia. Today ISCO supports almost 2,200 children from kindergarten right through to university. This is their story, told through their words and their faces.
