Never marry a stranger...even if he is a drop-dead gorgeous immortal king.

Never pretend to be a princess.

And most importantly...never slip on an ancient wedding ring you know nothing about.

Sarah Larker returns to a cave where her sister disappeared ten years earlier. She walks through a portal and is mistaken for a runaway princess on the run by a dangerous immortal king in medieval times. Her plan is bold as well as daring—become this princess, wed the king, and slip on an ancient wedding ring that will unlock the portal back home. Then find her sister and run as fast as she can out of Dodge. But taking on the identity of Princess Gloria comes along with dangerous consequences; and slipping on the ruby ring comes with an even higher price.

I found this book excellent in some ways but very disappointing in others. Firstly I have to say this did not feel like a whole book. It felt like only the first half or a sampler. A lot of time was spent developing characters whose development wasn't even necessary for this storyline. Same with some of the obstacles in the story. Too many started, not enough finished by the end. As a result I would not want to buy the next book because I would not have any certainty of enjoying the ending any more than I did in this one. I feel like the story would have been much more effective if it was simpler. On the plus side, I really enjoyed the alternate reality and the way the shift in worlds took place. I found myself transported to a different time and place quite believably and felt the locations were well described. I was all set to give this story a 4-5 star review. It had great potential until it ended so abruptly and with not enough resolution.

while this was better than her zombie books, I still feel it was unbalanced. the main character is strong and independent, yet spend a lot of the book running away and relaxing her story. some lines read rather flat, and I felt that future plots were overly broadcasted. for a story that is supposed to be a time travel romance, I wasn't really feeling the romance at all. finally towards the end it seemed like it might pick up, only for it to end abruptly to force you into buying the rest. would have giving it a higher rating if it could work well as a stand alone, but it doesn't come to any conclusion at all.

The idea for the book is interesting, but the author waffles alot. It's not a whole book but one of those part books that stops just as it gets going so that you have to buy the rest. I dislike this way of writing, either write and publish the whole book or don't. Not interesting enough to buy another half book. Disappointed
