About this ebook

The star-crossed love that started it all…

Hannah McAllister’s future is laid out before her, as clear as her journey from Scotland to Arizona, where she will exchange vows with her dull-as-dishwater betrothed, Boyd. But for a precious few hours, she is free to explore the wonders of New York City, where she encounters a handsome, compelling warlock, Nathan Wilcox.

Nathan didn’t run into Hannah by accident. His brother and head of the clan, Jeremiah, sent him to learn more about the newest witch family to make an appearance in New York. He feels an instant, soul-deep connection to Hannah, but he, too, is betrothed to another based on clan loyalty, not love.

A walk in Central Park, a kiss, and the die is cast for love, betrayal, and a spell that will reverberate for generations to come…

Warning: Contains a star-crossed relationship that doesn’t end in a HEA, but sparks a chain reaction of love that echoes down the generations.

Christine Pope’s latest book, Bad Blood, is a back-in-time novella from her Witches of Cleopatra Hill series. It’s set in 1800s New York and fills in a gap in the history of the McAllister-Wilcox feud. Hannah McAllister and her family have been kicked out of their home in Scotland by a rival clan. In New York on sufferance of the prima of the local clan, the McAllisters are in the process of making arrangements to move to the Arizona Territories when this story starts. Nathan Wilcox and his clan are in a similar situation. They’re also in New York, having been kicked out of Connecticut by their rivals. They, too, are getting ready to travel out west to find a new home. Nathan and Hannah, drawn together by similar circumstances, meet and fall in love. Will that love survive clan differences? Or will they only stir up trouble between them? I found Pope’s depiction of New York in the 1800s to be fascinating. The locales, such as the Macy’s store and Central Park, are interesting. It really felt like I was there. I also liked the characters of Nathan and Hannah, as well as the brief glimpses of Jeremiah Wilcox, the Wilcox primus. Altogether it was an entertaining story that brought depth to a series that I already thoroughly enjoy. I highly recommend Bad Blood.

This was a sad story... In this book, Jeremiah was a "bad guy", but on the other hand he couldn't send back the fiancee...

Short. Not discriptive on any backstory. Ends in the middle of the book. Sad I paid for it.
