Combining elements of psychological horror and war drama, with dystopian underpinnings, Heather's Mannequin is a young woman's odyssey to find love and self-acceptance. Her story also examines the nature of identity and trauma, and what happens when these two forces tragically collide.
About the author
Corey Toomey (1991-) was born and raised in Connecticut. Being born profoundly deaf hasn't curbed his passion for heavy metal music since the age of 14. Originally, he aspired to become a heavy metal frontman in the same mold as Ozzy Osbourne, Axl Rose, and James Hetfield. Corey spent the majority of his time penning heavy metal songs in preparation for his future, filling entire swathes of spiral notebooks (that he still possesses to this day). Upon realizing that a guitar had no place in his hands, however, he stuck with a pen and notebook instead.
After years of schooling, and exploring different professions, Toomey finally decided to pursue his childhood passion of writing at the age of 27. He enjoys writing thrillers with a psychological focus. Heather's Mannequin is his first novel.
Apart from writing, Toomey also enjoys hiking and spending time with his dog, Bailey, a golden retriever.
