Firing Position: Book 2 in the Too Far Trilogy

Dark Road Publishing

With Jesus Vargas out on bail and on the run, BCI Agent Eugene Booker calls in a favor from an old acquaintance, ex-DEA Agent Nick Lafferty. Just need some light intel-gathering about a street gang called the Fleetwood Syndicate. Easy-pease. So why can’t Nick let go of the old adage: no good deed goes unpunished.

Still, Lafferty tries to do his old friend a solid, but when his inquiries result in an attempt on his life, and that of ADA Caitlin McKenna, as well, Lafferty must ramp up his game. With his ex-partner Delmar Harley by his side, Lafferty inserts himself into a task force investigation into the Syndicate, where lies and deceptions get bigger and go deeper than a simple case of a wayward bail jumper.

Determined to get answers, Lafferty and Harley push back against the criminals and law enforcement alike, but will they find what they’re looking for, and if so, before or after more people die?

A Collection of Grace deHaviland Bounty Hunter Short Stories

When you’re a bounty hunter, making snap judgments about people will often say your live. But what if those first impressions are wrong?
When Grace deHaviland chases a bail jumper to the White Mountains of New Hampshire, a long way from her home turf of Columbus, Ohio, she may get her answer—hopefully it won’t kill her.

Expect the unexpected—a mantra bounty hunter Grace deHaviland has lived by for years, but tasked with tracking down a young bail jumper for a minor assault charge, even she couldn’t anticipate the trouble she and her best friend, sheriff’s deputy Suzie Jensen, get themselves into.

Tracking a U.S. bail jumper across the border into Mexico is illegal.
But when bounty hunter Grace deHaviland and sheriff’s deputy Suzie Jensen do just that, facing charges becomes the least of their concerns: No, their biggest problem—getting back alive.

Bounty hunter Grace deHaviland and her best friend, sheriff’s deputy Suzie Jensen, often work together, but their latest bail jumper case—a school teacher charged with sex crimes—brings up issues and long-held secrets that are starling, very disturbing and strike too close to home.

Family is very important to some people, as bounty hunter Grace deHaviland and sheriff’s deputy Suzie Jensen find out when a simple assault turns into murder, and tracking down the bail jumper responsible raises troubling questions about illegal immigration, racism and family loyalty.

Brought in to locate a cheating financial management guru—arrested on multiple fraud and theft charges—who skipped bail, Grace deHaviland finds she has her hands full, not only with tracking the missing man down, but also in dealing with a street-wise rapper who’s popularity is in decline, his contentious wife and their disintegrating marriage and careers, and a desperate manhunt that might end up getting her killed.
