From her maternal grandmother, who was beaten by her husband as they struggled through the Great Depression, to Debbi’s mother, who became pregnant as a young teen and suffered the same abuse as her mother, down to Debbi, who internalized the physical abuse she watched her mother endure, a deep-rooted fear plagued all three generations of women. But through it all, Debbi endured, and with a good dose of humor and self-compassion, she emerged with the deepest love of herself—and her mojo quite intact!

About the author
Debbi Morgan is an accomplished and award-winning actress whose career has spanned more than three decades. Her iconic role as Angie Hubbard on the daytime drama All My Children won the hearts of millions all around the country, solidifying her huge fan base and along the way garnering a Daytime Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress and three more nominations. She has also appeared in several films, including The Hurricane, Love and Basketball, and Eve’s Bayou, for which she won the Independent Spirit Award and the Chicago Film Critics Association Award for Best Supporting Actress. Debbi is also the author of her memoir, The Monkey on My Back.
