What do you do when the past comes back to haunt you unexpectedly? That is what happens to Shay Angel in Debbie Mason’s Driftwood Cove. Shay Angel, an ex-con on the right side of the law is in danger and she has no idea why. She was almost framed for a crime that she didn’t commit because of her background. So she heads home, with her best friend and the best friend’s dog only to find that her uncle has gone missing. Michael Gallagher, ex lawyer, current FBI agent. He has been in love with Shay since they dated many years ago. However, situations and time have kept them away from each other these many years, but life just won't feel right until they are back together. Michael is determined to make Shay believe that he is there for her and will be as long as she will have him. But the past is a vicious capital B! Will Shay be able to open her heart to Michael again, or will the past keep them apart forever? This was a great short story. I loved the relationship between Michael and Shay, but Cherry stole the story. I would like to read the entire series to meet the other Gallaghers and to see the beginning of Shay and Michael’s story, however Ms. Mason does a fantastic job of giving you a good understanding of everything in this book. Four stars.
