About this ebook

As a planeswalker investigates an alarming mystery built into the very foundations of Ravnica, he realizes some secrets are better left hidden

Jace Beleren has the power to travel between planes of the Multiverse, but with this gift comes isolation. He is one in a million. He is a planeswalker. And he is on the edge of a mystery that could alter the face of his adopted home—a vast, world-wide city known as Ravnica—forever.

Faced with a magical code that is built into the very foundations of the city-world itself, Jace marches into the numinous depths of Ravnica’s underbelly in search of the promise of powerful magic. What he finds is perhaps more burden than boon. Once buried in past, the code resurfaces as Ravnica’s power-hungry mage guilds—unbound by the Guildpact that had once maintained order—struggle for control of the plane. But in the drive for primacy, there is no neutral ground.

Jace knows that he can’t crack the code on his own, not while the guilds task teams of mages to unravel the mysteries. But he also knows that the danger of the quest is too great to include his friends. As the mystery begins to unravel, the choice may not be his alone.

Maybe as someone whom is a player and lore lover, seeing Legendary names thrown around as though they were forced in. Maybe I was meant to read these before dragon maze was released to really invest me in guild hype, but reading these post dragons maze launch it almost feels like a fan fiction. Still a decent read, but rubbed me the wrong way.

I do like this book, and it really gives some insight into the magic the gathering world and to the Ravnica guilds. However it was a bit short and I wish more of the story would have unfolded before they ended it. Also I feel like I should get a penny refund for every typo and grammatical error I come across, and but overall a good read.

You may not understand how important that statement is. Go find a copy of The Quest for Karn and read it real quick. I'll wait. OK, if you're still reading you are either lazy, lucky or the surgery has restored your sight. I honestly don't know how that book got published, or how the inhuman conspiracy behind that pseudonym was allowed to write novels for two blocks rich in story and interesting characters. Now for this book... it was fine. A little short, but there will be more. Bravo, Doug.
