This book is an unusual one. It's a crime thriller that is less on thrills and mystery and more on character and small town life. There is a dead body involved but it is a secondary plot point. Instead, the reader is given a Rashoman style of numerous characters living describing their lives and relationship to the deceased. It's a change of pace for Brubaker and Phillips who normally like their crime stories to be grittier and more violent. The style does work though because of the strong writing and quality artwork but it failed to capture my imagination.
