They think they’re getting lucky.
They’re dead wrong.

Detective Joe Williams has seen all kinds of murder scenes. Some brutal, some gory, all disturbing and horrific in their way. Nothing could have prepared him for what’s waiting in Apartment 413. A man—what’s left of him—lying in a pool of his own blood, his face frozen in a silent scream.

That’s just the first. Soon there are more victims, all male, all mutilated, seeming to have little in common except an agonizing death by castration. All of them went looking for pleasure. Instead they found a killer wreaking vengeance in the most bloodthirsty way. And the only clue Joe has found is a tiny, gleaming metal tooth...

Edo Van Belkom—winner of the Bram Stoker and Aurora Awards—delves into the heart of man’s most primal fear in a shocking, suspenseful, terrifying novel that bites down hard...and won’t let go.

REVIEWS
“One of 2001′s best horror novels” – Science Fiction Chronicle

“TEETH works on several levels: as an over-the-edge contemporary horror novel, as a police procedural, and as a thriller. Edo van Belkom’s mastery of the art of storytelling is brought to bear on this unforgettable novel. It’s about as far over the edge as a horror book can get, and the big boys were all too timid to take it. Still, I expect it to knock people’s socks off, the way Stephen King’s CARRIE did. From its unforgettable opening scene to its last page, TEETH will haunt you for the rest of your life; you will be mesmerized, repelled, and thrilled. Van Belkom already has one Bram Stoker Award; I expect TEETH to earn him his second — as well as the large readership he so richly deserves. Buy it.”
–Robert J. Sawyer, winner of the Hugo and Nebula Awards

“One of the best that I have read in a very long time. This award-winner Canadian novelist will not disappoint you.”
–Naomi de Bruyn, RAMBLES

Family secrets come back to haunt Jack Reacher in this electrifying thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Lee Child, “a superb craftsman of suspense” (Entertainment Weekly).

Jack Reacher hits the pavement and sticks out his thumb. He plans to follow the sun on an epic trip across America, from Maine to California. He doesn’t get far. On a country road deep in the New England woods, he sees a sign to a place he has never been: the town where his father was born. He thinks, What’s one extra day? He takes the detour.

At the same moment, in the same isolated area, a car breaks down. Two young Canadians had been on their way to New York City to sell a treasure. Now they’re stranded at a lonely motel in the middle of nowhere. The owners seem almost too friendly. It’s a strange place, but it’s all there is.

The next morning, in the city clerk’s office, Reacher asks about the old family home. He’s told no one named Reacher ever lived in town. He’s always known his father left and never returned, but now Reacher wonders, Was he ever there in the first place?

As Reacher explores his father’s life, and as the Canadians face lethal dangers, strands of different stories begin to merge. Then Reacher makes a shocking discovery: The present can be tough, but the past can be tense . . . and deadly.

Praise for Past Tense

“Child is one writer who should never be taken for granted.”—The New York Times Book Review

“[Lee Child] shows no signs of slowing down. . . . Reacher is a man for whom the phrase moral compass was invented: His code determines his direction. . . . You need Jack Reacher.”—The Atlantic

“Superb . . . Child neatly interweaves multiple narratives, ratchets up the suspense (the reveal of the motel plot is delicious), and delivers a powerful, satisfying denouement. Fans will enjoy learning more of this enduring character’s roots, and Child’s spare prose continues to set a very high bar.”—Publishers Weekly (boxed and starred review)

“Another first-class entry in a series that continues to set the gold standard for aspiring thriller authors.”—Booklist (starred review)

“With his usual flair for succinctness and eye for detail, Child creates another rollicking Reacher road trip that will please fans and newcomers alike.”—Library Journal (starred review)
Six contestants. One haunted house. And a whole lot of bloody murder.

B-grade horror masters the Gowan brothers have devised a new reality TV show with a killer hook. Six contestants compete for the chance to star in an upcoming slasher movie. All they have to do is survive one night in a “haunted” house and be voted Scream Queen.

The setting is perfect: a crumbling Victorian mansion with a gruesome history and a former owner who turned out to be a serial killer. Throw in a few buckets of fake blood, a bunch of rubber body parts, and a cast of aspiring actors who’ll do anything for a close-up. An expert parapsychologist even warns the production team against disturbing the house’s dormant spirits. Fantastic publicity. Sure, the budget’s low, but the ratings are going to soar.

Then the sun goes down. The cameras start rolling. And all hell really breaks loose...

Edo Van Belkom, winner of the Bram Stoker and Aurora Awards, is at his brilliantly twisted best in a novel that’s dark, witty, and utterly terrifying.

REVIEWS
“Great creepy fun! A post-modern edge-of-your-seat thriller, with enough smarts to know when to scare you and when to make you laugh. Having survived a decade in television, I thought I’d seen it all, but this book is actually SCARIER than meeting a Hollywood Network Executive!!”
–Ron Oliver writer/director PROM NIGHT 3 & more

“An ominous rollercoaster ride of a ghost story that is at once surprisingly simple and deceptively complex, a novel which exemplifies both the author’s penchant for comic horror and intense terror – not to mention a genuine love of horror movies ... SCREAM QUEEN rocks.”
–Rue Morgue

“A beach book for the horror crowd. Fun and fast-paced, the book is a terrific read.”
