About this ebook

He’s a West End blueblood. She’s an East End cop. When they met, it was murder.

“I loved this book! Great characters, great story! I was charmed by the interesting mix of personalities, and then unexpectedly Tony, Kate, Paul, Lady Margaret and others became real people to me - people I cared about. I lost track of me and fell into the story. That is what a great book does to one. I am purchasing the entire series!” —from Reader Review

“I absolutely love the Hetheridge series and have been waiting on pins and needles for another installment!” —From Reader Review

Lord Anthony Hetheridge, Chief Superintendent for Scotland Yard, has made a name for himself catching killers—a name all his own, apart from his hereditary title. On the cusp of his sixtieth birthday, the wealthy lifelong bachelor has it all—until DS Kate Wakefield upends his elegantly ordered world. The divide should be insurmountable—age gap, wealth gap, and a class gap wider than the Thames. But as Hetheridge, Kate, and his protege, DS Deepal “Paul” Bhar, investigate the brutal murder of a financier, he finds himself falling in love with Kate—even as the clues lead to a secret from his own past.

“This novel has everything I hope for in a good mystery: a strong plot with some good twists, enjoyable characters who have problems but behave with intelligence and humanity, villains who are well-rounded, and a good solid basis for an ongoing series.” –from Reader Review

The Lord & Lady Hetheridge Mystery Series follows Lord Anthony Hetheridge, DS Kate Wakefield, and DS Paul Bhar as they tackle the trickiest murders of all: those involving London’s rich, aristocratic, famous, and infamous.

Book 1, Ice Blue, is a witty, romantic mystery that pits Hetheridge, Kate, and Paul against a brutal murderer in the heart of Mayfair. Book 2, Blue Murder, pits the team against a killer who just might be Paul’s old nemesis, the baronet-psychopath Sir Duncan Godington. Book 3, Something Blue, finds Hetheridge and Kate getting married and murder crashing the party. Black & Blue, book 4, pits newlyweds Hetheridge and Kate against a twisty case, and book 5, Blue Blooded, forces Hetheridge, Kate, and Paul into a pulse-pounding confrontation far above Westminster. Book 6, Blue Christmas, brings changes, blessings, and, of course, murder, while in Book 7, Untrue Blue, Hetheridge faces down corruption among fellow officers he once trusted with his life. The newest book, London Blue, showcases Kate's dramatic return to active duty at Scotland Yard.

A good read spoilt by an over indulgence with the 'class' thing. We Brits don't comment on it constantly. Also it grated using US spellings when the book was supposed to be from a Brit's point of view, set in the UK. By the way...'liquor cart' ? PLEASE!! Liquor is not a word generally used here, and the item in question is referred to as a 'drinks trolley' (though considered déclassé).

Three and a half stars. First in a series featuring the aristocratic police officer Chief Superintendent Anthony Hetheridge, ninth baron of Wellegrave and his dynamic duo Detective Sergeant Kate Wakefield and Detective Sergeant Deepal 'Paul' Bhar. They might face racial and sexual slurs from 'colleagues' and suspects but the urbane sixty-year old Anthony Hetheridge has taken them under his wing. TPleasant enough police procedural with a May to September romance brewing. Currently free.

The primary thread of this story is NOT the solving of the "who dunnit". Way too much social commentary on the characters lives and their interactions, some of which I found to be "far fetched" and implausible. Not a page turner and lacks pace.

About the author

Emma Jameson is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Lord & Lady Hetheridge cozy mystery series. Book #1, Ice Blue, Book #2, Blue Murder, Book #3, Something Blue, Book #4, Black & Blue, Book #5, Blue Blooded, Book #6, Blue Christmas, Book #7, Untrue Blue, and Book #8, London Blue, are available now.

The next Hetheridge mystery, Bolt from the Blue, is in the earliest planning stages.

Ms. Jameson also writes the romantic wartime cozy series, the Dr. Benjamin Bones Mysteries. Book #1, Bones in the Blackout, Book #2, Bones at the Manor House, Book #3, Bones Takes a Holiday, and Book #4, Bones Buried Deep, are available now.

The next Bones mystery will be called Bones in the Blitz.

Ms. Jameson’s new series, Skullduggery, will debut soon with Book #1, Hunting the Beast.

Readers can also try Ms. Jameson’s Jem Jago Mystery Series. Book #1, A Death at Seascape House, Book #2, A Death at Candlewick Castle, Book #3, A Death at Silversmith Bay, Book #4, A Death at Neptune Cove, and Book #5, A Death at Bay View Hotel, are out now.

There are now FOUR questions readers love to ask Ms. Jameson. In no particular order, they are:

1. Why do you write so slowly?

This is a question she’s heard for many years. Sometimes she blames her eyesight. However, she has one good eye. Sometimes she blames her housecats, Howard, Zahara, and Bobby, for distracting her. However, they sleep upwards of eighteen hours a day. Sometimes she blames the Muse, which occasionally buggers off without notice. This last explanation works with a few readers, but not many. In short, Ms. Jameson cannot satisfactorily answer the question, “Why do you write so slowly?” But every New Year’s Day, like clockwork, she vows to do better in the months to come, and 2026 is no exception.

2. Will Lady Juliet’s husband ever die, disappear, or otherwise get out of the way?

Ms. Jameson says only: “The course of true love never did run smooth.”

3.You’re not ending the Lord & Lady Hetheridge series, are you?

To this the authoress says, “I will be writing the Tony and Kate books until I croak. Period.”

4. How do I find you?

If you’d like to keep up with Ms. Jameson’s book announcements, giveaways, and apologies for being late, along with the occasional ludicrous asides about her cats or her travels, find her on Facebook, Instagram, and sometimes Threads.
