First : The Welfare Principle that the State will provide in key areas including income, education and healthcare. This has lead to the end of self-reliance and responsibility.
The causes of ill health largely depend on the choice of each individuals life style, diet, cooking and eating habits. It is clearly unfair that the whole population should pay for the consequences of individuals irresponsible choices of lifestyle and diet. The origins of the Welfare State are described.
An approach to eating healthily based on natural principles of diet and cooking which is probably the only thing over which we have complete control. The causes of obesity and its safe, effective treatment are given.
No amount of external medical intervention of any kind can correct a failure to live and eat healthily.
Second : The medical treatment now widely offered does not produce good health but rather the reverse, evidence for this is given with a researched critique of the present drug industry led medical treatment including facts on the withdrawal of unsafe drugs and the failure of regulation.
An alternative model of medical education and practice is suggested detailing a medical system which is inexpensive and effective based on the combination of present medical treatment and alternative medicine together providing a genuinely individual approach to each patient. Without treatment being conducted and given for each patients individual needs both with medicine and advice on life style and eating- medical practice is largely wasteful.
Homoeopathic medicine in particular treats each patient individually. Homoeopathic medicines are in addition extremely inexpensive.
Inequality of income A further cause of much illness and costly reliance on the NHS is shown to be due to the large difference between the richer and poorer segments of our population.
Unless Society is improved by reforms in social justice, equality and correct information and also individuals take responsibility for their own diet and life style, as this book suggests, the nations health remains at risk.
Ernest at home with one of his dogs, Jet. I have twenty-four years experience in homoeopathic practice having started my training in the 1970s with Dr. Thomas Maughan and then at The College of Homoeopathy in London graduating in 1983. As well as maintaining a busy clinic, I founded the highly regarded North West College of Homoeopathy in 1984 drawing on previous experiences as a lecturer in adult education to establish a successful college. My background includes an Economics degree from Owens College, Manchester University, lecturing for eight years at the then Thames Polytechnic in Greenwich, London. Leaving economics I founded The Kidbrook House Yoga School in Blackheath, London and directed this with great success for ten years. During this time I also worked with Yoga Therapy using all the eight limbs of yoga and including as part of this the biochemic tissue salt therapeutics of Dr. Schuessler. Although I found Yoga Therapy effective with most patients there remained some more seriously ill clients who responded only to Homoeopathy on referral, this led me on to the study Homoeopathy. During my years in London my interest in esoteric studies deepened and I became a Companion of The Druid Order. From 1973 to 1983 I attended meditation groups, study groups and other activities in The Order. My esoteric studies includes the classical Hindu texts, the Chakra system from both the Eastern and Western teachings, Zen Macrobiotics, the Qaballa and, of course, the principles and practice of yoga. I have published a popular textbook of Homoeopathy as well as several shorter books. In the 1970s I contributed articles regularly to a leading Yoga journal of the time and in recent years contributed to leading journals of Homoeopathy
Depression is not a disease. It is a symptom.
Recent years have seen a shocking increase in antidepressant use the world over, with 1 in 4 women starting their day with medication. These drugs have steadily become the panacea for everything from grief, irritability, panic attacks, to insomnia, PMS, and stress. But the truth is, what women really need can’t be found at a pharmacy.
According to Dr. Kelly Brogan, antidepressants not only overpromise and underdeliver, but their use may permanently disable the body’s self-healing potential. We need a new paradigm: The best way to heal the mind is to heal the whole body.
In this groundbreaking, science-based and holistic approach, Dr. Brogan shatters the mythology conventional medicine has built around the causes and treatment of depression. Based on her expert interpretation of published medical findings, combined with years of experience from her clinical practice, Dr. Brogan illuminates the true cause of depression: it is not simply a chemical imbalance, but a lifestyle crisis that demands a reset. It is a signal that the interconnected systems in the body are out of balance – from blood sugar, to gut health, to thyroid function– and inflammation is at the root.
A Mind of Your Own offers an achievable, step-by-step 30-day action plan—including powerful dietary interventions, targeted nutrient support, detoxification, sleep, and stress reframing techniques—women can use to heal their bodies, alleviate inflammation, and feel like themselves again without a single prescription.
Bold, brave, and revolutionary, A Mind of Your Own takes readers on a journey of self-empowerment for radical transformation that goes far beyond symptom relief.
All of today’s most-diagnosed ailments can be traced back to an injured and irritated gut. The gut is an intricate and powerful system, naturally designed to protect and heal the body every moment of every day And yet for far too many of us, this remarkable system is in disrepair, which leads to all kinds of health problems—from extra pounds, aches and pains, allergies, mood swings, and lack of libido, to heart disease, cancer, autoimmune disorders, insomnia, and depression.
But we no longer have to be sick to get healthy. In this groundbreaking program, Alejandro Junger, M.D. explains how instead of treating the symptoms as they arise, we can preemptively attack disease before it takes root in the gut.
No matter your current state of health, you will benefit from this program: Clean Gut will help you put an end to everyday ailments, reverse chronic disease, and achieve true, long-lasting health.
Clean is an M.D.'s program designed to be easily incorporated into our busy schedule while providing all the practical tools necessary to support and rejuvenate our bodies. The effect is transformative: nagging health problems will suddenly disappear, extra weight will drop away, and for the first time in our lives, we will experience what it truly means to feel healthy.
