About this ebook

More pressing and consistent invitations to
rethink the foundations of literary studies have been made over the past few
decades. Quite  ironically, right in this
era of ‘savagee digitization the intellectual heritage of the old Russian
Formalists has been taken up by a growing number  of scholars willing to explore the literary
universe from a perspective which is no longer canonical and qualitative only,
but quantitative. Linked to a relatively young tradition  of experiments in humanities computing, the
study of Perazzini  uses distance and
stylometry to offer a reinterpretation of structures, lexical occurrences and
narrative motifs of an entire literary genre: the English Gothic Novel. An
undeniably  innovative research whose
methods  and sample corpus of reference
provide this book with an unprecedented
status of epistemological reliability.
