Professor Braddock cares for nothing but his research, so when his assistant is murdered and robbed while transporting a Inca mummy, the loss of the relic is foremost in his mind. But when a Peruvian stranger claims ownership of the stolen mummy and reveals that it contains two priceless emeralds, everyone involved joins the search for the murderer and his spoils.
You might expect something more gothic from the title, but no, it's just a pleasantly conventional murder mystery with the requisite romantic subplots.
