I rate this book a 4.4/5 stars. The writing style and characters kept me engaged in the beginning and middle, but I found myself speed reading through the end just to finish it. I'm familiar with Fiona's books as I read one of her series before, and the method she used to solve this mystery was very, very similar to another series I've read of hers. It was still a really good read, albeit a bit predictable if you're familiar with the author's work.

Glorious prose mixed in with gorgeous gardens and international intrigue. I loved every page of this book. It's not often that an author achieves this sense of place that makes me feel as though I were there with the main characters. With red earrings galore, I can't wait to read the next book in this series now.

This book has a decent plot and interesting characters. The reading flow is interrupted by the occasional grammatical errors ( missing words, incorrect pronouns and the main characters name changed from Alice to Amanda then back to Alice in an early chapter which was confusing). Would be a great read otherwise.
