What happens when an abandoned Yorkie finds her forever home? There's a Pooker on My Pillow tells the adoption story of our little Yorkie dog, Chloe. It highlights some of her unique personality traits we've discovered as she's become more and more comfortable in our home after experiencing terrible abuse and neglect at a puppy mill then being abandoned in the woods. For example, the story tells how Chloe got her unique nickname “Pooker.” It also shows how, over time, love overcomes fear. Finally, using her story as an example, it teaches children about the joy of adopting a shelter pet.

About the author

Harry Higinbotham was born in Denver, Colorado, and currently lives near Saint Louis, Missouri. A salesman by day, his true passion is spending time with his family—including his wife, seven children, eight grandchildren and his pets. Although he didn’t grow up with dogs or cats, Harry discovered as a young adult that cats would follow him around, and he became a cat person. Later on his wife, Christina, gave him the opportunity to own his first dog and it was love at first sight. In short, Harry is an animal lover. He’s especially fond of cute, little furry creatures. His very first pet was a little Dutch bunny named FooFoo, whom he loved dearly. Nowadays, Harry has six pets to love: three dogs—Shadow (a Schipperke); Chloe (who is the star of this story, a Yorkshire Terrier); Oliver (a Chihuahua–Rat Terrier mix)—and three cats: Sophia (a domestic long hair), Charlie (a Siamese), and Nora (a miniature Siberian).
