Will kidnapping a sick woman alter the course of a nation?
At CIA headquarters, officers fear that terrorists commandeered the computer systems to launch an unauthorized mission. Elsewhere, conspirators abduct several seemingly unrelated people to use as pawns in their treachery. Two disparate ambitions — Clint Masters becomes the reluctant link in the chain of danger.
Ever since Clint’s wife dumped him, he bobs along the coast in a sailboat, avoiding technology — a counterintuitive effort for the burned-out founder of a high-tech company. After meeting a woman who doesn’t treat him like a commodity, Beth unexpectedly disappears.
But Clint’s the only one who suspects foul play. In spite of the evidence, her family refuses to admit she’s in danger. And without routine dialysis, Beth will die.
While a CIA young gun tracks his quarry, he crosses paths with Clint, who must find Beth before her kidneys fail.

THE MASTERS’ KEY:
Someone wants Clint Masters to suffer. Someone will burn down the city to get revenge.
Clint’s tech company makes devices that manage the city’s infrastructure, making him a respected member of Boston’s elite—until one of his products causes a deadly accident.
Using unbreakable encryption, the devices are supposed to be safe from hackers. But as fatalities mount across the city, people question the randomness of the attacks. Isn’t Clint the only man who could unleash such destruction?
But the CIA allowed a madman to go free, and Clint’s under a gag order from their last confrontation. While the public accuses him of inflicting terror, he’s not allowed to reveal the truth about the tragedies. As his CIA contacts discover, not everyone at the Agency wants to expose the killer.
Amid city-wide panic, the public demands Clint’s arrest. He must choose. Does he go on the run to find the real terrorist or watch from a jail cell while his city burns?FROM READERS:

Hackers can access your bank accounts, take control of your car, or read your personal files. What if one gripped your beating heart?
Whatever. Clint’s got his own problems. As his city smolders from a saboteur’s plot to destroy him, Clint’s company sinks deeper in the morass. Every waking moment he struggles to keep the operation alive. As the stock price tanks and his best talent leaves for companies on the rise, it’s not a problem he wants to face sober.
When a medical hacker seizes control of the First Lady’s heartbeat regulator, Clint’s products pose a new threat. With one of their own on the line, the Washington elite won’t let Clint rest until they get answers. They expect him to search for the one man Clint doesn’t want to find, but his normal sympathies won’t extend beyond his own misery.
After he reluctantly agrees to join the overseas mission, Clint returns to face a greater terror. Greater than his enemies. Greater even than his own demons.
This time it's personal. But can he stop a bomber determined to commit mass murder?
Gripping, white-knuckled thriller

...effortlessly blend believable action with technical scenarios.
a story you will not want stop reading until the end
Bestselling author Helen Hanson writes page-blistering thrillers about desperate people with a techno bent. For source material, she ran a software company, built video games, and opened many a door for her dogs. For fun, Helen flew a Mooney over the Golden Gate Bridge, traveled 100+ mph over Highway 17 to the coast, and annihilated an entire Cub Scout pack in laser tag. There were no prisoners to take. She admits that your ink pens are not safe near her and that she can mimic the sound of most farm animals.Always pleased to hear from book lovers, join Helen in her Thrillers Behind the Firewall Readers Group and claim a FREE BOOK at www.HelenHanson.com.
Could he really steal 40 billion dollars?
A disgraced hedge fund manager awaits trial for bilking investors out of forty billion dollars. The legendary dark pool wizard offered phenomenal profits, but the SEC discovered he never made a single legitimate investment. His hedge fund scammed thousands of people, including a Russian mobster.
For Maggie Fender, a law degree remains a daydream as she struggles to support her ex-felon teen brother and their incoherent father. Suffering from Alzheimer's, Dad's rarely lucid, but that fact doesn't stop the police from arresting him for murder.
Their father barely functions, but her hacker brother swears Dad is sending them vital messages about the missing billions. When a private investigator and the Russian mobster focus their efforts on Maggie's father, her remaining hope turns to rampant fear.
She's the only adult in her family, and her weary camel won't carry a single extra straw. Her brother's hacking conviction landed him in prison and trashed the family's reputation, but he swears he was framed. No fans of the Fender family, the local police assume Dad ran away when he's kidnapped.
With her father's life in danger, who can Maggie trust when everyone has betrayed her?
Pure dead brilliant
Thrilled that I bought this novel, what an amazing read!
Her main protagonists feel so natural that they could be the folks next door
There are plenty of twists and turns in a story woven together so beautifully that everything makes sense.
There are also some serious and thought provoking aspects of the story.
Love when one chapter ends and you just have to see what happens next? Dark Pool is a fun read.
this novel, moved me far more!
The way Helen kept my attention with the many twists and turns to keep you guessing was nothing short of amazing.
RECOMMENDED READING ORDER:
All my stories intersect, so your favorite characters in one novel may reappear in a completely different series. Mine is a single story world, where storylines and people cross into other lives. Consequently, my books could be read either by series or by the order in which they were written, so I’ve included both lists:
The Masters CIA Thriller Series
THE MASTERS’ KEY
The Cruise FBI Thriller Series
OCEAN OF FEAR
ECHOES FROM DEATH
The Fender Hacker Thriller Series
By Publication Date:
OCEAN OF FEAR
THE MASTERS’ KEY
ECHOES FROM DEATH

This innovative new text restores sound technicians to Hollywood’s creative history. Exploring a range of films from the early sound period (1931) through to the late studio period (1948), and drawing on a wide range of archival sources, the book reveals how Hollywood’s sound designers worked and why they worked in the ways that they did. The book demonstrates how sound technicians developed conventions designed to tell stories through sound, placing them within the production cultures of studio era filmmaking, and uncovering a history of collective and collaborative creativity. In doing so, it traces the emergence of a body of highly skilled sound personnel, able to apply expert technical knowledge in the science of sound to the creation of cinematic soundscapes that are alive with mood and sensation.
