This book does a fantastic job at introducing Java. The author follows an effective format where the reader is 1 ) Briefed on a new topic 2 ) Completes an example program 3 ) Reads a detailed explanation of the program In this way, the book builds a strong foundation for any novice programmer. Of all the books I've tried out, this one has been a definite keeper!
