The winning authors were announced at the Emerging Writer’s Festival in Melbourne in June 2014.

Hoa Pham is a writer and psychologist. Her first novel, Vixen, won the Best Young Writer of the Year award from the Sydney Morning Herald. Her play, Silence, was on the VCE Drama List. She lives in Melbourne with her partner and two children.
