It was unexpected, difficult to read, but a welcome challenge. Considered to be one of the first Gothic novels I'm glad that I read it. And would recommend it, if you have the patience to deal with the dated language.

Interesting to see where the roots of the Gothic genre sprang from, and where other authors have taken readers since this book was published. I recommend this to anyone interested in the Gothic tradition.
