This is old stuff (30-40 years old), but it works. Really. Which is not that surprising: thankfully, human relations don't change at the pace of high tech. And not just with children, with everyone. Our preschooler is not particularly difficult, he's just normally challenging, but using these skills has made an incredible difference in how he and we handle conflicts, disagreements, tantrums, melt downs, bed-time, and in how we experience them. It has raised our awareness on how we can help our children learn to connect with their emotions, the good and the bad, and it is helping us connect with our own emotions too. Fits still happen of course, relentlessly, but they resolve faster and with much less churn, bitterness, or feelings or winning/losing. And by the way, I read the ebook first and then went on to buy the printed book. I find it easier to use as a weekly reference.
