ایرج پزشکزاد در تهران به دنیا آمده است. تحصیلات ابتدایی و متوسطه را در تهران و عالی را در فرانسه در رشته حقوق به انجام رسانده است. مدتی با مطبوعات با نام مستعار الف.پ.آشنا، همکاری کرده است. چند سال به سمت قاضی در دادگستری و سپس به عنوان دیپلمات تا مقام سفیری، در وزارت امو رخارجه ایران خدمت کرده است. پس از انقلاب در غربت به کار تحقیق ادبی و تاریخی اشتغال دارد.
