About the author

J. Wayne Fears is the author of four outdoor cookbooks and is a member of the International Dutch Oven Society. He has served as a judge at many cook-offs, including the National Cornbread Cook-Off. An accomplished writer and skilled outdoorsman, Fears has authored more than thirty-two books on a variety of outdoor subjects and more than 6,100 magazine articles. He has been enshrined in the Legends of the Outdoors Hall of Fame and has received numerous awards for his writing. Fears resides in Huntsville, Alabama.
